Martha, the older lady who owned the shop gently led Celie over to the sinks to wash her hair, effectively cutting off her conversation with Lorelai, much to the relief of everyone in the room.
"Cel, maybe you should not be talking about mermen to the new girl, she doesn't know about them yet," Harper mind linked Celie while she was getting her hair washed. "Also, probably not a good idea to be telling people Porter is a slut."
"Why don't you mind link Mattie and find out if they told the elder yet? If they did it won't matter if we talk about them because it won't be a secret anymore. It's only a matter of time before they tell her, if she's a warrior she's likely going to be asked to patrol the beaches anyway." Celie retorted. "This way I can invite her to the house! And everyone knows Porter is a slut, plus he's probably going to hit on her the second he lays eyes on her, so I was just warning her."
"Fine, I'll ask him." Harper sighed.
"Hey, do you think I can mind link Mattie?" Celie asked, glancing over at Harper before Martha scolded her to keep her head still. "We are in the same sort of pack now, I never tried, but you and I can link, and you and him can link, so it makes sense, I'm going to try."
Celie sat still and closed her eyes and focused on Matt's image in her mind and then sent out her call.
"Mattie can you hear me?" Celie sent out a mind link and felt a strange pulse of surprise.
"Celie?? Is that you?" Came Matt's startled reply in her mind.
"Yup," Celie snickered.
"How is this possible?" Matt asked.
"I think the link works with you too because Celie and I are our own little pack since the goddess blessed us. Have you talked to the elder about us yet?" Harper said since Celie had included her in the link.
"Yes, we've explained the situation and what we are, why?" Matt replied.
"The new warrior girl is here, and I wanted to mention it to her, but Harper told me not to say anything in front of her because she doesn't know, but if we told him, then I can tell her because she's going to find out soon anyway, right?" Celie asked.
"I don't see why not, if she's a warrior she'll probably be sent on patrol at the beach soon anyway," Matt replied, making Celie send a smirk in Harper's direction as Martha helped her sit up as she squeezed the water out of Celie's hair.
"Thanks Mattie! I'm going to rub it in Harp's face that I was right. Ha!" Celie laughed. "Is Porter there with you?"
"No, he got a message there was a rogue sighting at the border and took off to check it out," Matt replied.
"That little shit!" Celie snapped. "He better not be late to our initiation! And he needs a haircut and shave before the ceremony."
"That's exactly what Luna Penny said to him as he was leaving," Matt laughed. "You and she have the same mind Cel. How are you feeling, by the way?"
"Ugh, I've been better. When I woke up my head and shoulder were killing me, but Tosha brought over a bottle of vodka and I'm starting to feel numb again, so that's a good thing," Celie said. "But Harp is telling me to be quiet and not talk so much to the new girl, but I like her, and I want to talk to her so I'm clearing it with you first so Harp can't bitch at me anymore."
