"Hey Baby, what's up?" Harper answered Matt's call as she and Adam started toward the last store they had to hit, it was only a little before ten and she was surprised at how good of time they were making. The siren and wolf delegations were supposed to get there between eleven and noon and she'd been stressing she wouldn't get everything in time.
Adam glanced at her when he saw her face fall.
"You're kidding...how many?" Harper pressed her fingers to her forehead and closed her eyes. "Alright, I guess we'll see them in a couple of hours. Yeah, love you too, bye."
"What happened?" Adam asked, concern in his eyes. "Are you alright? You look a little green."
"I'm fine, just tired a lot these days. So four more siren warriors showed up in the Keys pack just as they were getting ready to leave to drive up here," Harper said with a sigh.
"But that's a good thing, right?" Adam asked, not sure why Harper looked so stressed all of a sudden.
"They're female, one is an elder, the other three are young and unmated," Harper sighed, dejectedly.
"Oh," Adam said, suddenly understanding Harper's concern.
"Hopefully, we won't have another Sana situation," Harper said. "We do have seven unmated male warriors here now, so hopefully if they're looking for mates, they'll look to them. If they all set their sights on Eden, Celie and Sira are going to freak out."
"Great, just what we need," Adam sighed. "It's not bad enough we're fighting a war against insane tritons, we now have to potentially contend with mate drama and fighting too."
"Honestly, I'm more worried about Lorelai now. She and Celie took to each other like soul sisters, I'm actually getting a little jealous," Harper admitted, glancing at Adam with a small smile. "I've had her to myself our whole lives. First it was Porter, now Lorelai, I don't know how to feel about that. Anyway, with Celie being hurt, and with Lorelai being as dominant as she is...she's protective of Cel. I can see that going bad fast."
"Oh, goddess," Adam rubbed his forehead. "Yeah, Lorelai would have no trouble smacking down a siren, even a warrior one, and that's the last thing we need right now."
"Well, I think Ara also would try to put a stop to it fast," Harper said. "She saw what happened and was pissed at Sana for the way she acted anyway. Then with Sana dying, and Celie almost dying, it hit everyone pretty hard. No one wants another situation like that happening again, but still, it's stress we don't need. Especially Cel, she's been through a lot recently, she needs to just be happy for a while."
"Yeah, she deserves that," Adam said, looking down.
"Just so you know, I don't want to rub anything in your face, but I want to warn you," Harper said, hesitantly. "Sira came out and talked to Eden when Celie was passed out drunk. She told him she fully accepted him as her mate, and she wanted to claim him. She explained to him how wolves feel about mating, and that they don't wait once they find their mate, and if he wants to wait it makes her feel like he doesn't really want her. It freaked him out really bad because he loves Celie and Sira and doesn't want Sira to feel that way, so he asked Cel to mark him. She said she would as soon as her shoulder is healed up. I'll be taking the stitches out tomorrow night or day after tomorrow, depending on how it looks. So, just be prepared for that, you saw how it affected Reese."
"Sira actually came out and spoke to Eden?" Adam was shocked. "She barely communicated with my wolf, even when she wanted to accept us."
"Yeah, shocked the rest of us too, she hardly speaks at all, even to Celie and me," Harper said. "The fact that she took over, had a heart to heart with him, and was kinda forceful about it shows how strongly she feels."
