Chapter 8: Advancing

At the Bunker, Y/N talks with Jade...

Y/N: I was pretty tired after doing Turf Wars and decided to head back to the bunker. When I arrived, I told Jade about what happened.

Jade: "So you're saying that we don't have to sell the food since there's an easier way of making money?"

Y/N: "Yeah, in Inkopolis they have a game where you can compete against each other in 2 teams of 4 where the objective is to cover the most ground with your teams ink, it pays really well and since I do harder things such as fight the Octarians, its really easy as the opponents aren't that difficult."

Jade: "But how can you compete? You said the objective is to cover the most ground with your teams ink, you can't you ink remember?"

Y/N: "Oh! I asked Marie if there was a way for me to use ink and their squid form and she got somebody to actually make a device that allows me to use ink and squid form."

I showed Jade the device and that I can activate and deactivate it at any time I want.

Jade: "This is very fascinating. Creating a device that can change a persons species is something that you would normally think is impossible, I wonder how they made it."

"Oh! And another thing. Why is your jacket wet?"

Y/N blushes and hides their face as they say what happened.

Y/N: "O-Oh! Th-this? Ummm... M-Marie looked sad so-so I helped he-her... She r-really needed it... She h-h-hugged me and c-cried on me..."

Jade: "Mhmm..."

Y/N: "A-anyways, I need help Jade, since I can only take in energy by concentrating and standing still, I was wondering if there was a way for me to take in energy while moving, it would be helpful since I won't be able to run out of energy so easily like I did before."

Jade: "Hmmm... Oh! When I was sorting through the supplies I found quite a lot more books for you, I think one of them was one that teaches continuous energy intake, it should be in the training room, I put the books that help with energy in there."

Y/N: "Thanks Jade, I'll head over there now, I'll let you know how it goes."

I headed over to the armory first so that I could put away my mask, armor,ink tank, and modified weapon. I went to take a shower and changed into fresh clothes, I've been wearing the same ones for a few days.

After changing into black pants and a basic black shirt, I headed over to the training room and looked for the book Jade mentioned.

"Advanced Topics In Energy Control", this should be it. I opened the book and put it on a nearby table and began reading the instructions, they were simple enough, I would need an open area and walk around, It said for me to feel the energy around me and to make my body act like a receiver and have the energy flow towards me.

It was working and after about 2 minutes, I was able to take in energy while walking, if I wanted to take in energy while running then I would have to gradually increase my speed while controlling the energy flow as well.
