"Just tell him you have a date, I don't know"

"I could never say that" I say to my best friend Gwen while she reads through the daily bugle her favourite news site, I don't know why she reads that it's all fake news about how spider man is a menace

"You wouldn't need to lie to him if you just got a real boyfriend" Gwen says putting down her phone "Flash Thompson has a crush on you I hear"

"Ugh no" I say "this is so embarrassing, why do I like him so much when he obviously likes Liz"

"Oh it's ok MJ" Gwen says pulling me into a hug "he's really not worth it if he can't see how amazing you are"

I look away and blink back tears, maybe I will just lie and say I have a date. I'll need to choose someone he knows of so it seems believable but someone he can't talk to to find out if it is true

I know, I'll say I have a date with Spider-man!

Time skip

As I walk down the school hallway I catch a glimpse of peters curly brown hair and feel my heart skip a beat

"Hey Peter" I say as I stop beside him and open my locker, he looks at me and smiles

"Hey tiger" he says and I melt "are you doing anything tonight?" he almost looks nervous and I get excited he might ask me out but then I see Liz look in our direction from down the hall and I remember he doesn't like me

"Yeah I am" I say confidently "I have a date"

I see his face drops but it's back to a confident smile so fast i must have imagine it, he laughs and pushes my shoulder

"Mary Jane Watson has a date?" He teases "and who's the lucky man?"

"You're not going to believe me but I promise it's true" he looks a bit puzzled "I'm going on a date with Spider-Man"

He laughs a bit but then looks confused and a bit sad but mostly confused

"Really?" He asks "wow, good for him"

"Yeah" I say "don't go around telling people, it's kind of a secret"

"Mary Jane, do you really have a crush on Spider-Man?" He asks looking at me hopefully and I remember how I thought he would ask me out earlier but if he's this excited that I don't like him then he definitely wasn't going to

"Yes" I say and he smiles at me and nods

"Ok cool" he says and closes his locker "I'll see you around tiger" he starts walking down the corridor towards his friends Ned and Harry who are waiting at the end of the hallway

Peters pov

"So did you do it? Did you ask her out?" Ned says as soon as I reach them

"no but I do have a date with her tonight" I smirk, I can barely hold in my excitement

tonight is going to be amazing, not only do I have a date with Mary Jane Watson but it's going to be hilarious when I show up to her house and she has no idea

She's obviously lying about us having a date but she does actually like me, well Spider-Man, so she will definitely want to go on a date with me, right?
