DESTINY.
I looked up to see Drew staring at Simone with regret in his eyes. It looked like it killed him to realize he missed out on the most important moments in her life, all because of his selfishness.
"Mommy?" Simone asked.
"Yes baby?" I looked down at her, giving her my undivided attention.
"Is that really my daddy?" I nodded my head slowly. She let go of my hands and walked over to Drew. She stopped in front of him, then wrapped her arms around him. He wrapped his arms around her holding her tight.
"Daddy why did you leave me? Was I not good enough?" I heard her sniffle into his shirt. That broke my heart to the core to know that my baby doesn't know how loved she is. I never want her to feel unwanted.
Drew pulled away from Simone and wiped her face with the pads of his thumbs.
"Of course you are good enough princess. I never stopped thinking about you. It's just... I had to get away for awhile." He tried to explain.
"Why?"
"There were some very bad people who were looking for daddy and I didn't want you or your mom to get hurt." She nodded her head indicating she understood. "Do you forgive me?" Simone looked over at me for approval. I nodded my head, so that she knew I was fine.
"Yes daddy I forgive you! Just don't leave me again."
"I won't baby girl." The whole time we were there Simone was attached to Drew's hip. She literally went everywhere he went. Even if he went to the bathroom she would wait outside the door. I on the other hand did everything in my power to avoid him.
Even when he tried to talk to me I would talk to someone else or change the subject. There is nothing he could say to ever justify what he did to us.
It was getting pretty late and I could tell that Simone was getting sleepy by the way she was babbling on about nothing.
"Alright guys I think it's time for us to go." I got up from the couch and picked up Simone.
"Alright sissy text when you get home." Darcy said kissing Simone on the cheek, then giving me a one handed hug.
"Bye uncle's baby. By big head." Rio said giving us both a kiss.
"Bye, I love you. Tell my nephew I said I love him too." I walked to my car and got her situated in the backseat.
"Destiny wait!" I turned around to see Drew heading towards the car.
"I wanted to say bye before you left." I stepped to the side, letting him and Simone talk.
"Alright princess I will see you soon."
"You're not coming with us?" She now had tears streaming down her face.
"No I'm sorry, daddy has to go home." I told her.
"I don't want him to go!"
"Don't cry mama. I'll tell you what, if you stop crying we can go to the park tomorrow."
"Ok daddy." He kissed her all over face making her laugh.
"Love you." He told her.
"Love you too." I closed the car door and began to walk toward the driver's side, until he grabbed my arm.
"Can we talk?"
"Now is not the time nor place." I stated calmly.
"Well can I at least have your number? That way I can meet up with you at the park." I gave him my phone so he can enter in his number. He tried to give me his but, I rejected.
"I'll text you when we are about to leave." I then walked away and drove home.DREW.
Damn I didn't think today I would be seeing my daughter for the first time. She looks exactly like her mother. The only thing she has are my eyes.
Man I fucked up big time, especially with Des. She wouldn't give a nigga the time of day. I know I messed up but, she's going to have to talk to me sometime. Hopefully that will be tomorrow.
I walked back inside of the house. I sat next to Rio, he was watching the Heat vs. Bulls game.
"How do you feel?" He asked without looking at me.
"Honestly, like shit. My own daughter feels like I don't love her and my baby moms hates me. I can't ever do shit right."
"Simone knows you love her. I can tell that girl is crazy about you already. As for Destiny give her some time. You put her through a lot of shit my nigga. You don't know how bad it was when you left. All she did was cry herself to sleep and read that letter you sent her. She feels all she got is her daughter." I rubbed my hands across my face.
"I know man." I got up from my seat and walked towards the door.
"I'm just speaking the truth." He said bringing me into a bro hug.
"Goodnight bro."
"Bye nigga."DESTINY.
"Did you have fun with your daddy today." I asked while turning off the tv.
"Yes ma'am."
"I'm glad you did. Now say you prayers so we can go to sleep." We bowed our heads before she began.
"Dear Lord. Thank you for my mommy, Auntie Darcy, Uncle Rio, Rico, Nana and Paw Paw. Please protect us from monsters at night so they won't us. Thank you for bringing daddy back in my life. God I promise if mommy and daddy get together I promise to be extra good. I will even stop being mean to Rico even though he is a boy and boys are yucky. " I couldn't help but to laugh at her.
"Don't interrupt rude." She said rolling her eyes and trying to imitate Bon Qui Qui. I nodded my head and bit my lip to try and stop my laughter.
"Like I was saying before I was interrupted. Please grant my wish! In Jesus name we pray amen."
"Amen. Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I looked at it and it was Shawn.
"What nigga?"
"Good morning to you too." He said, while chuckling. God he sounded so sexy but, I wasn't going to give him any play yet.
"I'm sorry, what do you want?"
"I just wanted hear your voice beautiful."
"Mh."
"I'm serious."
"Ok, well I got to go." I said trying to get off the phone.
"So you really going to do me like that?"
"Like what?" I challenged.
"Like I'm some side nigga. I feel kind of hurt, I thought you was feeling a nigga."
"Oh that's what you were thinking." I giggled.
"Girl you better stop playing before I teach that ass a lesson."
"You ain't gone do shit and you know it."
"You won't be saying that when I have you screaming my name."
"Nigga bye. I got to go take care of my daughter."
"Before you go, I want to know if you and little bit want to hang out?"
"I'll see. Bye Shawn."
"Bye Beautiful." I hung up the phone with butterflies in my stomach. I haven't felt this way in awhile and the feeling is amazing. I won't let my guard down though. Last time I did that Drew left for five years.
"Come on pooh, let's get ready."
"Five more minutes." She pulled the blanket over head when I turned on the lights.
"So don't want to see your dad today?" She jumped out the bed and went to the bathroom to get ready.
I went upstairs to her room to pick out her outfit. I grabbed a pair of ripped jeans, a Miami heat jersey and red Gucci Sneakers. I decided that we should match. I grabbed the same outfit except I added a diamond encrusted rose gold Rolex and two gold chains.
"I'm ready to put on my clothes mommy." She came out in a towel and sat on my bed. After I got her situated, I went into the bathroom and took care of business. When I was finished I grabbed my Christian Louis Vuitton and Louis Vuitton limited edition bag.
"Let's go." On our way I texted Drew where to meet us.
When we got there the park was pretty empty with the exception of a few kids. I grabbed her hand and we walked to the park. As soon as our feet hit the sidewalk she took off running. I saw run over to Drew.
"Simone!" When I caught up to her I slapped her hand.
"Don't you ever run off again. Do you hear me?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Now give me a kiss." I puckered my lips so she can me a kiss. I got up and Drew had flowers and a American Girl doll in his hands.
"Hey daddy!"she yelled.
"Hey princess. Look what I got you." He handed her the doll.
"She is so pretty!"
"I'm glad you like it."
"No I love it! Who are the flowers for?"
"They are for your mother." Drew turned around and handed them to me.
"Thank you." I said trying to be civil.
"Your welcome gorgeous." He said while winking at me.
"Mommy can I go on the swings?"
"Go ahead but, be careful." I called after her. I walked over to the bench and started scrolling through my phone. I smelt his cologne when he sat next to me. It was that scent he use to wear when we were together.
"How have you been?" He asked.
"Good."
"What have you been up to lately?"
"Nothing."
"What's wrong with you?" He asked in a irritated tone.
"You want to know what's wrong with me? You nigga. All of a sudden you come back into our lives and you expect everything to be normal. If you plan on leaving, you better go now and save Simone from a broken heart. I care about that little girl too much for you to hurt her again." I said on the verge of tears.
"Destiny I promise, I never wanted to hurt you or her. Please let me explain."
"Save it!" I said putting my hand up. Simone ran back over to us.
"Mommy why are you crying?"
"I'm not crying baby." She turned around and faced Drew.
"What did you do to my mommy?"
"He didn't do anything to me. Give daddy a kiss so we can go."
He squatted down so he can give her a hug.
"Love you." She said.
"I love you." He then looked up at me. "I love you too."
