DESTINY.

Today was the day that Drew going to be released from the hospital and sent to rehab. I know this is what is best for him but, this is hard. I never thought I would see this day come. I don't think anyone does. Cam, Mama, Pops, the kids and I are in the lobby waiting for Drew to come out of his room.

"Daddy!" The kids yell when they see his body coming around the corner. He drops his bags then began twirling them around in his arms. He gaze roams over all of us expect pops.

"Hey son."

"Ma." He said bringing her into a hug.

"Hey Drew." Cam said shyly. He opened his arms for her and she gladly accepted burying her face into his shoulder. He kissed her hair then rubbed his free hand through her hair. He whispered something in her ear then his eyes landed on me. Cam walked over to me and grabbed my hand giving it a squeeze before everyone left.

"Hey." I started breaking the silence between us. He brushed passed me as if I wasn't anything to him. I walked back over to the truck where everyone was at making room for his stuff. I got into the driver side then took off when everyone was in. The majority of the ride was filled with Dre and Simi asking him a bunch of questions about why he was in the hospital and why he is going back.

"Des?" I heard Cam called my name breaking me out of my concentration.

"Yeah."

"Are you ok?"

"I'm fine." I smiled weakly. She gave me the side eye.

"We'll discuss this later." It took us an hour before we arrived at the facility. We all got out the car.

"Welcome to The Recovery Center, I'm Charlotte." This older white woman came from behind her desk.

"I'm Destiny we are here to check in Drew."

"Of course, let's walk through here to get everything set up." I followed her into her office leaving everyone behind. "Would you like any water?"

"No ma'am." I sat in one of her seats that was directly in front of her desks.

"So it says you are enrolling him into our six month program. I just need you to put your Handcock on a couple of forms." I nodded my head making sure to read over everything. "Basically what the paper says is for the first two weeks he is not allowed to have any visitor but, he can make and receive phone calls at a certain. We will give you a schedule for that once we set up his classes. As you know after the three months, since he is an adult he can decide to discontinue his course after the three month period."

"Is there anything I can do to make sure he stays the full six months?"

"If we feel he isn't making any progress than he has to stay."

"I also want you to know that if you ever want him to stay overnight for one night we only allow that for special occasions. We feel that too much exposure to the outside world will cause the patient to relapse."

"So he is going to be locked up in here all day?"

"Of course not we do various activities to keep them occupied. We go to the park for yoga on Wednesday, some Saturdays we go to the movies. We also have rec time where they can do whatever they want for an hour." She said reassuringly.

"I only have two request from you and your staff."

"Ok."

"If he seems to be getting any worse please call me. I want to know about his progress and anything else about his growth. I know Drew and he isn't going to tell me if he is hurting."

"You personally have my word that I will give you an update on him."

"Also one of his counseling sessions I read that you have a family one. I was wondering if I can a personal one with him."

"I will have to ask with the board but, I don't see how that can't be arranged." I signed the last couple of papers handing them to her. "Alright let's go back out."

DREW.

"Daddy are you coming back home. I want you take me to my first day of school." Simone said holding onto my neck.

"I'm not going to be able to make it baby but, I want you to tell me all about it when I call you." I saw tears stream down my face.

"Please don't go daddy I promise I'll be good."

"I have to Simone, I don't want to leave you but, daddy has to go or he can't be around anymore."

"Can I go with you?"

"No you have to stay and take care of your mom."

"Mr. Carter we are ready for you." I grabbed Dre's shoulder.

"I want you to look after your sister and everyone else while I'm gone."

"Yes sir."

"I love you."

"Love you too."

"I love you too daddy." Simone said tightening her grip around me.

"Mr. Carter." The woman tapped me on the shoulder.I handed Simone back to Milla as I picked up my bag heading in the directionthe lady was walking in. We walked into this room that looked like a small oneroom apartment with two beds. "Alright Mr. Carter this is your room. Your councilorshould be here shortly to give you the run down. Your roommate should be hereas well. My name is Charlotte if you need anything don't be afraid to let meknow." I nodded my head as she excited out the door.
