DESTINY.

I turned the door knob slowly.

"GG." Simone and Dre yelled going over to mama.

"Hey babies. I brought you some snacks." I looked over to the bed that I was trying so desperately to avoid. When I looked over Camilla was caressing his face while whispering things in his ear. His eyes were still closed like the first time I saw him.

"Has he made any progress?" I asked taking a seat next to her.

"Not really, they said that he gained a little feeling back." I nodded my head. Dr. Logan walked through the door.

"Good morning ladies. It's nice to see you again Destiny." He said smiling at me.

"Good morning." I said smiling back at him.

"Let's see how Mr. Carter is doing." He went to his chart examining it before walking over to him. "Mr. Carter this is Dr. Logan we are going to do a couple of exercises. I want you to move something if you feel it." He took his pen running it up his feet. There was no movement. He took the chart taking note of it. Then he moved to his hand tapping different areas. He took his hand running it along the palms. Drew twitched his hand a little.

"I think I saw him move." Cam said damn near jumping out her seat. Logan tried again and got the same result.

"Mr. Carter if you can hear me can you move your hand." We all waited and he didn't do anything. "Maybe one of you should try talking to him. That usually gives the patient motivation."

"Baby move for mama. I forgive you Drew just move." Mama said grabbing his hand. He didn't move. "Excuse me for a moment." She grabbed the kids hands taking them out the room. Cam went by his bed side and I followed her.

"Hey baby, I miss you just please wake up. Do something for me to let me know that you are ok. I love you Drew. Just don't give up on." She kissed his hand. He still didn't move. She looked over at me. I sighed before grabbing his hand.

"Hey Drew. How have you been?" I laughed uneasily. "We both know that I'm not good at expressing myself this shit is hard man. I need you to get better to take care of our daughter. I need someone to talk shit to and yell at because you get on my nerves. Just wake up ok?" I felt nothing not even a tiny squeeze.

"I'm sorry ladies. Destiny can I have a chat with you for a moment though?"

"Sure, let me make a quick phone call." He nodded his head. I was about to call mama to bring the kids back but, she was already outside the door. "Mama can you take them in their to say goodbye? We are about to leave."

"Sure baby." They all walked inside.

"Alright you have my attention."

"So, it looks like he is making some progress, although minimal it's still progress. I also wanted to know if you have made a decisions about Drew's placement when he wakes up."

"We decided,"

"Destiny he is awake!" Cam said rushing into the hallway. Me and Logan ran into the room seeing his eyes wide open.

"Oh my, how?"

"I don't know the kids started talking to him and he just started moving." She said while tears followed from her eyes. We hugged each other as we watched Logan examine him again.

"Mr. Carter do you know where you are?" He shook his head no.

"Do you know what day it is?"

"The seventh." He croaked.

"Ok, it looks like he lost a month worth of memory." Dr. Logan spoke. "Mr. Carter you are at Baylor Medical Center. You are here because you almost over dosed. Do you remember any of this?"

"Nah, when can I go home though?" Dr. Logan looked over at us.

"Drew we need to talk to you." I spoke up. Mama and Cam held onto my shoulders.

"I will let you have a moment." Dr. Logan said stepping out the room. I looked over at the Dre and Simone to see them distracted by their iPads.

"You have been acting out lately son and you need help." Mama started.

"We all love you so much Drew and we want to see you do better for yourself. But self-medicating is not the way to do it. These constant mood swings and taking your anger out on people is not ok. That is why we are sending you to rehab." Camilla spoke.

"Fuck that I ain't going to no nuthouse. You got me all the way fucked up if you think I'm going to that shit."

"This is not up for discussion you are going." Mama interfered.

"You going to let them disrespect me like this? I thought you supposed to be my girl then I see a ring on ya finger that I know damn well I didn't put there. You fucking other niggas now?" I nodded my head before letting out a sigh,

"We are not here to discuss my personal life right now, we are here for you. I do agree with them and I'm the person who suggested it to them. We can't watch you twenty four seven you are a grown ass man and we are not going to watch you kill yourself. Now I'm going to give you a choice but either way you're going. You can either willingly go and you can see your kids or we can force you to go and we are filling child support for visitation."

"You can't do that those are my fucking kids Destiny." He barked.

"And we want you to be there for your kids but, not if you are using. You almost fucking died! Do you know how stressful that is? What would we tell them if you had?" Tears started following from my eyes. "Exactly, I'm gone." I picked up Simone and grabbed Dre's hand as we walked into the parking lot.

DREW.

I sat in the bed watching Destiny walking out the door with tears running down her eyes.

"You know that girl really loves you right? You know the shit she has been through with his constant drinking. I just don't understand why you would be so stupid and use drugs. Is there something that you need because you know me and your father would do anything for you." Mama said.

"That old bastard doesn't give two shits about anybody. I suggest if you are going to preach you should leave." She shook her head before standing up.

"I love you son but, you are digging a hole for yourself that you won't be getting out of if you keep this up."

"Why are you still here?" I asked side eyeing Milla.

"You know that Destiny was the person who found you the night you decided to use that shit. You should be thanking her because you would have been dead if it wasn't for her." She walked over to the door then looked over her shoulder, "You have so many people rooting for you please don't fuck up." She closed the door behind her.
