DESTINY.

"Destiny?" The older woman at the door asked.

"Um yeah, I'm here to pick up my daughter." She looked at me for a while like we have met before.

"I'm sorry, come in." She stepped aside letting me in.

"Simone." I called out for her. The woman still stared at me from a distance. It was getting kind of weird. "So I heard you would be in town for a couple weeks." I spoke trying to make conversation.

"I wanted to see my grand baby."

"Dre is such a sweet kid. Him and his sister have grown really close in the past couple days."

"Sister?" She asked with a confused look on her face.

"Mommy!" Simone yelled grabbing the side of my leg.

"Hey Simi." I picked her up.

"Momma Des." Dre came up and hugged me.

"Hey baby, where's your mom?" The woman twisted up her face again.

"I'm right here love." She gave me a hug and sat on the couch. "Oh I'm being rude mommy this is my best friend Destiny, Destiny this is my beautiful mother Giselle."

"We already met but, I love your name that was my mothers."

"Well thank you. I love your name too I always said that if I had another daughter I would name her Destiny."

"Mom everybody says that we look like twins. You know I actually believe it sometimes?"

"Oh really... well it was lovely meeting you but, I have to run a couple errands at the store." She picked up her purse then walked out.

"Your mom seems really sweet." I commented.

"Yeah she's the best, she's been my rock. So how was your date?"

"It was sweet I really enjoyed myself. I think I might really like him."

"I think I hear wedding bells." She squealed.

"I like him but, not like that."

"You say that now."

"I don't have time to play with you."

"Anyway have you talked to our baby's daddy?"

"Oh shit I forgot to let him know I made it home safely. I'm surprised he hasn't called out a swat team yet."

"You ain't got to call him your grown."

"True but, I don't want him to worry."

"He is not your daddy I'm pretty sure it's ok if you don't call. You don't see me calling asking for permission to do shit or telling where I am."

"You right. Well we got to go I'll talk to you later." I grabbed Simone's hand and we walked over to our place.

"Guess what?" Simone asked as I was opening the door.

"What?"

"We went to the movies yesterday."

"That sounds fun."

"It was mommy we went to see Home."

"Well you have to tell me about it." We walked in and went to my room as she told me about last night's events.

DREW.

I knocked on the door waiting for a response a couple seconds later I was greeted by the smell of perfume.

"What Drew?"

"Hey ma." I kissed her cheek and slid by her.

"Why are you here shouldn't you be with in the streets." She rolled her eyes.

"Nah, I just wanted to make sure you and my seed are straight. You know that you are apart my family too."

"I know you didn't drive all the way across town to check on me especially because our son isn't here. So what's up?"

"Alright a couple things have been laying heavy on my mental. Why are you here?"

"What do you mean?" She asked with a confused look on her face.

"Exactly what I asked."

"I came here to expand my business plus I wanted my son and his father to be close. You can't just leave us in the dark and act like we don't exist. As much as you hate to admit it he is your son. You can't expect a trip once a month is going to fix all this."

"I take good care of my son. I make sure that he has everything that he could possibly want or need."

"You can't buy love Drew. I know all the shit you've been through. I think I know you better that my best friend. I see you trying to be a father to our son and I'm not taking that away from you but, you have to stop pushing your son away because you think he's a mistake. It was my choice not to get an abortion. No matter how much you may hate it you need to grow up."

"I don't play favoritism with any of my kids, I love them all equally."

"Then what's his middle name? Or his favorite color? What's his favorite superhero?" It was silent for a while. "See but, I bet you could tell me everything about Simone. You notice what you're doing is a pattern? You say you don't want be like your father but, you are following in his footsteps."

"Man you don't know shit about my father." I barked at her.

"I know the reason why you run away from everything is because that's exactly what your father did. When things didn't go according to plan he ran. That's why when you found out you had a brother and two younger sisters your father paid their mother's off to keep quiet." I grabbed her neck and pushed her against the wall.

"You don't know shit about me, I'm nothing like my father."

"Are you sure because look what you're doing now." I looked her in the eyes and let her go. She took in a deep breath trying to keep her heart steady.

"Milla I'm sorry, you know I got a bad temper." She mushed my face making me stumble a little.

"Drew you need help. I still got love for you because you helped when I was at a dark time in my life but, I'm not Destiny and I will not let you put your hands on me like that again. You also need to choose who you want to be with because I will not let you play with either of our emotions."

"You right, I'm fucked up."

"You're not fucked up. You just need to get your priority straight."

"I love you."

"I love you too." She kissed my check then wiped the tear from my eye. "Are you staying for dinner? My mom and Dre should be home soon."

"Sure."

DESTINY.

"Simi go check on the cookies." I yelled to her as I went to go answer the door. I looked through the peephole seeing Ms. Giselle.

"Hi." I greeted.

"Look I don't want to stay long I just want you to stay away from my daughter."

"Um excuse me?" I asked a bit baffled.

"I want you to stay away from my daughter. I don't think it's a good idea for the two of you to be friends." I stepped outside the door.

"I don't mean to be rude but, we barely know each other and my friendship is with your daughter not you."

"I know what you're doing. Playing dumb like you don't know who I am, it might work for her but not me."

"I seriously don't know what you are talking about. Maybe you sh..."

"Don't act like you don't know I'm your mother."

"You're her what?" We both turned around and saw Camilla standing in the hallway with Drew's hand wrapped around her waist.
