DESTINY.
"I'm proud of you for standing up to him like that baby." Mama said as we sat in the booth at this burger place.
"There is nothing to be proud of I just said what was needed to be said." I shrugged.
"I just pray that he gets better."
"What do you have planned later? I was thinking we could use some sister bonding time." Cam said while cutting up the kids burgers so they can eat it.
"I just want to be alone." I said truthfully.
"Ok."
"I'm sorry boo this is just taking a toll on me. I'll make it up to you promise."
"You good, I understand where you coming from this is hard on everyone." I sent a weak smile toward her.
"So where do we go from here?"
"Drew gets out in three days. We have to pick a place to put him, I was looking at a couple places online and I really like this one." Mama said showing us on the phone. Me and Cam looked at the reviews on it. It looked nice and received five stars for their services.
"How much?" I asked. She bit her lip then looked at me.
"Baby I don't want you to pay this kind of money. Me and Dominic can take care of it I just want you to take care of my babies." She said referring to Dre and Simone.
"Mama I asked how much."
"I said,"
"Mama this up for discussion how much?" I snapped.
"Little girl don't you ever raise your voice at me like that again. You must be out your damn if you think you can talk to me like that." She warned.
"I'm sorry, just tell me." I sighed taking a sip from my margarita.
"It's a six month program but you can pay for three months then decide if you want to continue with the rest. The three months are fifteen thousand dollars and the whole package is thirty." I nodded my head. "It's fine if you don't want to pay. Like I told you before I can handle this." I took my check book out writing it out.
"Who do I make this out to?"
"I'll take care of that. Thank you, I'm glad to have a daughter like you."
"I want to contribute too. I might not have a lot of money but I want to help anyway possible." Cam spoke up.
"You have and you don't even know it. You holding my hand through this is helping me."
"That's my job, I'm here till the wheel off."
"I think we should get going." I took my wallet out again to pay but Cam stopped me.
"I'm paying." She placed the money on the table. We all got up walking out the restaurant. I put the kids in their car seats before hopping into the driver's seat. While I was driving I noticed Cam staring off into space. I tapped her leg making her look at me.
"Tell me what's up." I glanced over at her quickly then turned my attention back to the road.
"I feel like this is somehow my fault. I can't help blaming myself for breaking the two of you up." I pulled over to the side of the road, turning off the car. I looked in the back to see Dre and Simone knocked out.
"You are not responsible for any of this and I don't want you to beat yourself up about it. The reason why we aren't together is because he doesn't know how to be a man. We had problems long before you came along."
"Just think about it. The sneaking around, the mood swings the constant drinking it all started when we realized that we were sisters. No actually when we first met each other again and he saw we were friends."
"I think you are reading way to into this."
"Put yourself in my shoes for a second. How would you feel if you knew that you are always going to be the other woman? That anything that you do he will always secretly resent you and wish that you were the person he thinks about. Then to look at the man that you are in love with and know that every time he looks at your child he sees a mistake." She broke down. I never knew that she felt like this. I wrapped my arms around her body holding her like she did me when I broke. Camilla is honestly one of the strongest people I know. She will always laugh before she ever cries. She has not only lost her mother who was her best friend, she also blames herself that was clearly not in her control. I waited until she calmed down to start talking.
"I want you to know that I don't blame you for anything and that Dre is not a mistake. He is a blessing just like Simone. She wasn't planned but, I love her with everything in me. As for Drew I know how you feel. I love him with everything in me, he was supposed to be the man I spend the rest of my life with but, I always came second. He was too busy running away and chasing whatever is in the streets. I'll be honest when you entered my life I thought you had ruined everything that I was trying to rebuild. Then I realized if he ever loved me like he said he did he wouldn't hurt me. Just like I did you will move on and find some worthy of you.""How long did that take?"
"Not long but, I still have my moments where I think about what if."
"Are you in love Shawn?" She asked looking over at me. I wiped the few tears that fell from my eyes and a smile instantly formed on my face.
"Yes." I answered honestly.
