DESTINY.
I stayed in the room looking over his body. It looked so cold and helpless. I grabbed his hand holding it to my chest. "I need you to wake up Drew. You can't give up on us like this. You know the doctor said you are at risk for kidney failure? If you needed my help you should have said something." I looked at him and received no response except for the sound of the heart monitor. I got up from my seat and walked into the lobby.
"Yo is boss gonna be ok?" One of the guys who helped take Drew to the hospital asked.
"Yeah he is going to be fine." I walked away from them as they celebrated the good news. I went over to the front desk where a different lady was sitting there.
"Hi what can I do for you?"
"My daughter's father is in room 112. If he wakes up can you call me?"
"Certainly sweetie. Just write down your info."
"Thanks." I wrote down my information then handed it back to her.
"You have a nice night." I nodded my head while exiting the building. I went to my condo taking the long route home. I couldn't wrap my head around the situation. Him taking drugs doesn't even sound like something he would do. Drew is a lot of things but one thing I know he isn't is a druggie. I took the elevator to my floor and knocked on Cam's door.
"Hey chicka you ok?"
"Yeah I will be."
"Come in." She stepped aside. I saw mama on the couch watching tv.
"Hey baby. What happened?"
"Are the kids sleep?"
"I just put them to bed." Cam said.
"The reason why I told you to leave and take the kids was because I found Drew on the floor foaming at the mouth."
"Is he ok? Tell me my baby is ok." She broke down. Cam stood there with tears coming from her eyes shaking her head rapidly taking in the information.
"He's fine for now. The doctor told me basically they found large amounts of drugs and alcohol in his system. That's what caused him to pass out along with him being at risk for kidney failure due to the large amount of narcotics. He should be up in a couple days."
"I can't believe this." Camila spoke.
"He's going to be fine. I don't think we should tell the kids about this. Me and the doctor were talking and he thinks that we should either put him in rehab or keep him under surveillance like someone looks after him."
"What do you think we should do?" Cam asked.
"I think we should put him in the program. Our schedules are too complicated to watch him twenty four seven. I work at night and Cam you work during the day. I also don't want you travel there everyday mama, you have a life to live and I can't ask you to put it on hold."
"I thank you for taking my feelings into consideration but, I will not have my son in no rehab center. He is not some addict. I know him and this isn't him."
"I understand mama I do but what happens if he uses again. I love him too and I just wants what's best for him." She remained quiet.
"I agree with Destiny on this one Mrs. Carter, we shouldn't risk him doing this again. I love your son too and if sending to rehab to get him help will make him a better man than we should do it. He has been acting out of control lately and needs serious help. I think this is a wakeup call for all of us."
"Mama what do you think?"
"Fine, I trust you. When do we start looking for places to send him?"
