Backstory, basically lady Gassela captured Keefe after he ran away, and because his powers weren't enough, she shot shadowvapor at his eyes, having recruited a shade. The vapor made his eyes turn gold and green. She visited him and gave him an antidote for the colors, but he told no one and kept it a secret, not drinking it because he was sort of proud of his eyes. His old reputation sort of disappeared, but he was a bit more open with himself. It had been a year since he came back, but we're ignoring the Neverseen right now
Sophie looked at the bottle.
Did she really want to do this?

She decided with finality

Sophie guzzled the elixir, and her eyes turned azure blue.

Fitz was a little suspicious at first, but she made sure he didn't know.
This was for him, after all. He had a reputation to keep. That was his legacy.
Because he deserved so much more. But she would try to fill that spot.

Keefe sighed.
The elixir was still weighing in his head. Ro stared at him from her little dark corner

She walked over to him and wrapped an arm around his shoulders
"Keefe, you don't have to do anything your mother says. She isn't your puppet master. You're your own person. If you like your eyes, then keep them, because you deserve to be happy" she turned his head toward her in an awkward position
"Okay?" she asked gently
"Yeah," Keefe said, smiling softly
Getting up, he grabbed the vial and shoved it to the bottom of his drawer
"Yeah," he said with finality
__________
Sophie looked in the mirror. 6 months ago, she started changing her eye color. Ever since then, she refused to look in the mirror with her old eyes.
She gasped
Her eyes were black
Obsidian black.
She started crying and punched the mirror.
She couldn't bear it.
Brown was better
It was so hard pretending. Fitz kept complimenting her eyes. Her skin itched, and her neck flamed up whenever he mentioned it.
And there was always that pang of guilt.
She wished she could trust Fitz with it. She kept having to physically let him into her head, and there were way too many close calls.
She stared at the mess that was her eyes from a shard of the mirror and gasped
