Chapter 38: Superpower Roll Call

" Alright, now we get to work. All of you, line up!" Alex yelled. I was shocked at how quick they got into formation. No one seemed to care who they stood next to as long as they were in line. Nobody from my school was like that.

" I'll need an evaluation of each of you before we can go out and start our first exercise of today. Who want to go first?" Alex asked. A blonde-haired kid wearing a lot of sparkles raised his hand.

" Moi! I will go first!" He announced. His whole class groaned. He moved to the front and posed with his stomach in extended in her direction.

" Yuga Aoyama, right?" Alex asked, hand on her hip.

" Of course, mademoiselle!" said Yuga.

" Well, go ahead. Try and hit me with your 'Quirk'." Several students began muttering to themselves about her sarcastic use of the word.

" Presenting, Navel Laser!" Aoyama yelled, regrabbing everyone's attention. A giant sparkling blue laser came out of a kind of magnifying glass over his belly button. Alex merely ducked to avoid it, not even looking up from her clipboard.

It blasted behind her and straight through the walls, destroying the concrete. My eyes widened slightly. Alex scribbled something down on the paper in neat handwriting that wasn't quite cursive.

" M'kay. Next, Mina Ashido. " The girl with pink skin and hair and tiny horns stepped up next.

" Acid!" Mina raised her hands and made her fingers form a nozzel like on a hose. She sprayed a large amount of gray acid that shot about twenty feet in front of her. It melted the floor below her about several inches. Alex nodded and scribbled down something else under the name was was apparently Mina's in kanji.

A girl in a green and white body suit with long forest-green hair stepped forward just as Alex opened her mouth to say something else. But Alex didn't look annoyed. In fact, she gave the teen a little sideways smirk. Alex was often impressed with the rebellious type.

" Tsuyu Asui. Or more commonly, Tsu. Let's see if you can grab me with that frog power of yours," said Alex. Tsu nodded. She stuck out her long frog-like tongue at her, which was remarkably fast. Alex ducked quickly. The girls started sparring.

Alex backflipped, turned and twisted in order to avoid Tsu. She jumped pretty high to dodge a lightning-fast fast strike. Alex kept going until Tsu was sweating and breathing hard on the ground. Then she walked up to her and offered Tsu her hand.

" You're good with your tongue. If you want to get more of an impact, try rolling up your tongue so that you can actually do some damage if you want to hit an enemy with it." she said. Asui nodded.

Alex moved back to the platform, her face set in her famous lopsided smirk. Somebody new stepped up, but I could barely see her. The only reason I knew they was there was because of their shoes and gloves.

" Toru Hagakure! Presenting, Invisibility!" The person yelled. It was a feminine voice, so I assumed the person was a girl. I just hoped I wasn't wrong.

Toru pulled off her gloves and shoes and threw them to the ground. I assumed she was trying to sneak up on Alex. I almost called out to Alex on instinct, but decided against it. She could handle somebody like this.

Alex placed her clipboard on the platform and flipped down to the ground. Then, she shut her eyes. Suddenly, her left hand flew out and punched something. I heard a loud grunt and a body crash to the ground a second later.

But Toru didn't speak again after that. I heard a fist fly through the air. Alex didn't move. I bit my lip. Then, at the last second, she grabbed something. The force flew into her, pushing back her long ponytail, and knocking her shoulder-length bangs off her shoulders.
