I woke up in bed, feeling weak and tired. My body ached in places you wouldn't even think could get achy.

" Ugh, how long have I been out?" I asked.

" Only a few hours. I'm impressed. I thought I was the only one who could break out of their worst nightmares long enough to defeat the enemy," said Alex.

" Nice job, little brother," said Jazz. She squeezed my hand, which she had been holding at the time, and wrapped her arms around me. I squeezed her tightly. She felt so warm. . . and I was freezing. Man, I really missed feeling warm inside.

" Thanks. So, what happened?"

" What happened is you totally wrecked that guy with that sonic wail!" Ben yelled. I pressed my fingers to my temples.

" Actually, it's called a Ghostly Wail. And scream that a little louder why don't ya? I don't think the fifteenth dimension heard you yet," I told him grumpily. Ben smiled sheepishly.

" Sorry, dude."

" So, what's the next mission?"

" We have to wait for one. I'll keep monitoring though," said Alex.

" Rook, Kevin, what happened with those demigod kids?" I asked.

" Let's just say, they fight a lot harder then they look," said Kevin. He had dirt and scratches all over his body. Rook wasn't much better off.

" The children weren't able to hurt Kevin with their weapons when he was a normal human. But they seemed to be able to hit me just fine," said Rook, nursing a black eye. Alex blushed.

" Sorry. Guess I should've told you what those weapons were made of. The gold weapons are made out of Celestial Bronze which can't harm mortals–they're just not important enough to be hurt by it," she explained.

" And the black death-radiating sword?" Gwen asked. Alex smiled, impressed she had noticed the pale kids weapon was different from the rest. " Nico's sword is made of Stygian Iron.

Had it slain you, you're soul would've been sucked into it's blade for all eternity," Alex told us. She said this in a perfectly calm voice, like she was saying the sword would burst into song and performed when it touched us.

" And that is a very likely outcome unfortunately. You know, considering his issues when he gets angry. And it's only gotten worse since his sister died," she said. I sighed and looked down at the floor. I knew exactly what that felt like. Kevin looked horrified.

" Remind me never to get that kid mad," he said. I frowned at this. The last time I'd heard somebody say that, the kid in the sentence had been me. I looked up from the floor and turned to Kevin. My eyes narrowed.

" Hey dude, lay off," I told him. Everyone stared at me. I guess I wasn't normally one to defend someone I'd never meet in person before, not to mention nearly mudged my freinds.

That was Alex's job. I suddenly realized how that must've sounded. " I mean, he's probably had a hard life, and the whole thing with his family dying and stuff. . . ," I looked at Alex, who thankfully agreed with me.

" Ben's right. Anybody would be angry with the world after someone they were close to died. And having superpowers to actually take out your anger on the world with just makes it worse," she said. This did nothing to make me feel better. In fact, I felt even worse.

" Uh, I'll be right back," I said. I walked out of the room and closed the door. As soon as I heard it snap shut, I started running. About halfway down the hall, I hit the watch and turned into XLR8 and raced away.
