"Kids dinner is ready!" Max and Libby came bouncing into the kitchen, they weren't at the table for two seconds and they were already arguing.
"Stop it Max just give me the butter!"
"Ah what's wrong Lib your arms to short to reach?"
"Mom, make Max pass me the butter."
"Max, pass your sister the butter. VANESSA COME DOWN STAIRS, IT'S DINNER TIME!" I sat down to the table in enough time to see Libby throwing her dinner roll at Max.
"Fine since you're a butt head and won't pass me the butter, you butter it for me."
Of course there is no quiet time sitting at our dinner table like you see in the Brady Bunch. Oh no never a dull moment. "Damn it kids stop!" I grabbed the butter and the roll, handed them both to Libby and started to the hall. I was so tired of that girl never hearing me call for her. Those damn earphones will be having a washer accident real soon if I can help it. "VANESSA GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE FOR DINNER I MEAN IT!" Just then my phone started ringing. "Max, go get your sister for dinner she can't hear me again."
"I don't think she's here."
"What do you mean you don't think she's here? When did she leave?" Oh that damn phone won't stop ringing.
"I don't think she came home from school yet."
"Wait what do you mean Max that was hours ago, you mean she has not been home the whole time?" He just shrugged his shoulders and stuffed his mouth full of spaghetti.
"Oh I'm going to kill that girl when I get a hold of her." I annoyingly grab my cell "Hello, yes this is she. SHE WHAT! Yeah ok I will be there as soon as I can. Thank you officer." I hung up the phone, now I really am going to kill her.
"Was that the police?"
"Yes, Libby, that was the police, apparently your sister has been arrested for stealing a motorcycle. Which she should not be on or around. I have to go down to the station. I'm going to call Miss. Combs to come watch you guys. Max will you call your dad and tell him to meet me down at the station?" I grabbed my purse and phone, dialing as I walked towards the door. "Hello Miss. Combs, yes this is Brooklyn. I have an emergency. Can you come watch the children for me? You can oh that would be great. Oh no, no one is hurt. Yet anyways."
"Mom!"
"No I just have a situation with Vanessa I need to go deal with."
"Mom!"
"Yes, Miss. Combs you are right teenage girls nowadays. Great thanks, they are eating dinner now. Libby needs her bath, then they can just watch some T.V. until bed."
"MOM!"
"Yes Libby, what do you want?"
"You're forgetting your keys." I blew a kiss to Libby and hung up with Miss. Combs. What was that girl thinking driving a motorcycle, she doesn't even have a learners permit. Not just driving one, but she was driving a stolen one. Just another perfect ending to the rest of my week.
I am sitting on a little bench in the middle of the police station and I am telling you the things going through my mind. Right now I don't think that I can take it anymore. That's it my mind is made up, well I have Elliott trapped here at the station I am going to tell him I need more help, more support when it comes to the kids. He is going to have to take them for more visits. Speaking of Elliot, go figure he is late getting to the station when it concerns his own child. He helped to make these children and by god he can help take care of them.
