When I woke up the next morning my eyes were puffy, my head hurt, and amazingly enough without a drop of alcohol I felt like I had the worst hangover in my life. Shelly was already up carrying a cup of coffee over to me. "How are you feeling sweetie?"
"Like I was just hit by a train called life."
"Do you want to talk about it anymore?" Her question felt half out of concern and half out of curiosity for what drove me to cry in her lap again. I had spent many nights in Shelly's lap crying over Trent. I didn't want to go into it. I didn't really have it figured all out myself. "No, I just had a moment last night. I think everything with Vanessa and this Aston kid are bringing up bad memories for me.
That was the only explanation I had for myself. "Are you hungry sweetheart?" The thought of food at the moment turned my stomach. "No, you and Ed go without me. I think I am going to just take a shower."
"Ed isn't here. So I can wait on you if you want me to."
"Where's Ed?"
"He went to pick up Rez from the airport and take him to get a suit, since we asked him last minute he wasn't prepared." Oh crap, I forgot about that guy coming today. I didn't want to send Shelly alone, so I showered and headed to the buffet with her.
Sitting there at the breakfast table I stirred my food around my plate more than I ate it. "Brooklyn are you going to eat that food or make some kind of art deco?"
"Sorry." I push my plate aside, I hear Shelly sigh a little. I couldn't eat. I was still thinking about Trent and the dreams.
"So since Ed is going to be gone most of the day what do you want to do?" My honest answer was to curl back up in bed and hide, but I was afraid to close my eyes and see his face again.
"I am down for whatever you want to do."
"Then we are going to pamper ourselves today. We will start with spa treatments, a massage, and we are getting our hair done."
"Even in the mood I was in, a spa day sounded good."
"We will get facials, manis and pedis, massages, and our hair. It will be great!"
"I don't know if I have the money for all that. But I could do a massage."
Shelly pulled a credit card out of her pocket. "Nope we get it all."
"Where did you get that?"
"It's Ed's he brought it to me this morning and told me he booked us appointments for all of this today. He said we needed it." Again I was envious of Shelly and Ed's relationship. Though this time I am pretty sure he did this on my behalf more than hers.
We walked down to the spa and checked in at the front desk. I must still look like hell because the girl turned her nose up. I tried to do my makeup this morning to look somewhat presentable but I obviously failed.
They took us back into a small room with lockers in it. Gave us two white house coats and told us to strip to just our underwear. We both looked at each other, and for the first time I think Shell was nervous about showing off her body. Well who wouldn't be every woman in this place looked like they stepped out of a Victoria Secrets commercial.
When we got to the room with all the strange tables, each of us was assigned our own technician. The older lady pulled the curtain between us and my tech instructed me to lose the robe. I was really grateful I shaved.
I crossed my arms over my breast, noticing that compared to hers they looked like two baseballs hanging in a sock. I walked over to the table and laid down. I was glad that the first thing she did was cover my whole body in steaming towels. I wasn't quite sure if this was for her benefit or mine. She then covered my face all but my nose and mouth and set a timer.
