I hopped in Krissy's car. She couldn't even let me get all the way in before she was showing me her ring. "Oh my god I am so happy for you and Hunter! Have you set a date?"
"We are tossing around ideas, thinking of keeping in tradition and getting married when we graduate college." She turned on to the main road. "So where ya wanna go hang out?"
"I don't care. Is there anything going on at the cabin? Trent and I drove past there yesterday but it was empty."
"Trent is here? I didn't think...." Krissy cut herself off mid sentence.
"What do you mean here? Of course he is here. He picked me up yesterday. We had the most amazing time together. He made us a picnic and we watched the sunset. Like they do in movies. Oh, and I am pretty sure he said 'I love you'. He kinda whispered but it sure sounded that way." Krissy was strangely quiet.
"He was really surprised when I told him Hunter proposed. Do they not talk much anymore?"
"Umm, no we haven't seen Trent in a while. That is crazy though because Hunter said he saw him a few months ago at the jewelry shop when he was looking for my ring."
"Why was Trent in a jewelry store?" She swallowed hard before answering me. "Hunter said he was looking at rings too." Was that why Trent was being so romantic last night. I knew there was a different passion between us."
"A ring?" My eyes got wide. "Do you think he's going to propose to me this summer!"
"I didn't say that Brooklyn, you shouldn't get your hopes up." She was being a bit guarded with her words and I didn't understand why. We pulled into the driveway of the cabin. My eyes flicked quickly over to the path that we took last night. My heart was so full. Trent was going to propose to me I knew it, I could just feel it in my heart."
She put the car in park and turned to me. "Hey, there is something you need to know before we go in there."
"Ok what's up." Before Krissy could tell me Brycen came bounding out of the cabin. I got out of the car and he bombarded me with a bear hug. "Brooklyn how the hell are you! When did you get back in town?"
"The other night, I got in late. I hung out with Trent yesterday."
"Oh, he's here too?" Brycen was pulling me into the door.
"No, I came with Krissy." Why was everyone acting like Trent was gone? Krissy was trailing behind me whispering to Hunter. I couldn't help but feel like something was going on I didn't know about.
"Hi Brooklyn, long time no see." Great Madison was sitting on the couch. She wasn't happy about Trent dumping her for me.
"Trent is here too." Brycen was telling Neil. "Awesome, the gang's all back together.
"Trent and I are really glad you're home for the summer." She gave a little sneer in my direction. What did she mean? Her and Trent?
Neil grabbed a bag of trash he always used to start the fire. "Come on guys, bonfire is almost going. We all got up to walk out to the fire pit. When Madison got up I noticed she was different. HOLY SHIT! She was pregnant!
"Madison, are you having a baby?" She placed her hand on her very round belly and I could see she had what looked like an engagement ring. "Trent didn't tell you, what a surprise. Guess he doesn't tell you everything!"
It took me a minute to put together what she was saying. I ran through it in my head really fast. Her and Trent were glad I was in town. Hunter saw him ring shopping, his actions last night, the baby. OH MY GOD! She was pregnant by Trent! I felt like I was going to puke. I ran out of the cabin. I could faintly hear Krissy "Madison what the hell is your problem."
