I suddenly woke up out of bed, I forgot for a minute where I was, until I looked over next to me and Shelly was still sound asleep. God, another dream of Trent, I was beginning to think I was going crazy. This one was the same thing like I had been taken back in a time machine.

I went out to the mini bar and filled a glass with ice then dumped in several little bottles of Jack. I don't drink ever but I needed to calm down. I stepped out onto the back patio and sat down in the lounge chair. The air smelled so good and the sky was just so clear you could see every star. I sipped my drink as I just enjoyed the scenes around me. In the distance I could hear something singing, not sure if it was a whale or a dolphin. I didn't know a whole lot about what sea life was around this area, but it was a beautiful sound.

The moonlight twinkling off the pool on the patio was so peaceful and relaxing it enticed me to go for a swim. Being sure to not be too loud to wake up Shell I grabbed my suit out and went into the bathroom to change.

The water was so warm and nice; I just laid on my back and floated, staring up at the night sky taking it all in. I couldn't tell you how long I was in the pool. I just knew it was great, peaceful. I never wanted to get out. I had always been drawn to water. It always seemed to help calm my mind.

"BROOKLYN! What are you doing swimming at three in the morning?" Shelly startled me when she came out on the porch. She reached over onto the patio table, picked up my cup and smelled it, "and drinking too, you never drink. Are you ok sweetie?"

"Relax I'm fine, isn't this what you are supposed to do on vacation?" I was afraid I was a little tipsy. Ok maybe a lot tipsy.

"Sure honey but at three in the morning?" I climbed out of the pool and grabbed a towel; though it was warm enough outside I would have been just fine without one. I got my drink off the table and plopped down in the chair. Now, she was going to notice I was tipsy.

"What do you mean you couldn't sleep? Are you drunk?"

"Maybe just a little bit mom!" I snickered like a little girl and took another gulp. She was looking at me now like I did something wrong. I wasn't used to getting these looks from her. Normally I am the one giving her the look. "I couldn't sleep, I slept for a while and just woke up and didn't feel tired."

"How long have you been up?"

"Dunno hour or two. Shell look at that amazing view. I never get to see cool stuff like this. I'm too stressed to stop and notice anything anymore."

"Are you sure you're ok? You're being strange. I haven't seen you this drunk since your last summer home at your dads."

"I'm fine!" I stood up to dry off my hair and headed to the bathroom to change. Truth was I wasn't really fine. I was freaked out, spooked of sorts by my own thoughts and dreams. Why was I thinking of a man I haven't seen or heard from in sixteen years? I changed back into my sleep clothes, ran the blow dryer through my hair and went back to bed. That drink was enough to help me relax and the swim tired me out. It wasn't but a matter of moments and I was passed out again.

I didn't really dream much about Trent after that or at least I didn't remember much when I woke up the next morning. Just flashes of things in my head. I was so confused I couldn't tell if they were real or not. For some reason I hated getting up early at home but here I couldn't wait to start my day. I got showered to get the pool water out of my hair. I put my other bathing suit on, packed a beach bag up with my tablet, sunglasses, and sunscreen. As I walked past the mirror, I saw my hair. I knew now what Shelly was talking about. I ran back into the bathroom, scooped it up in a tasseled messy look, pinned it with some of her bobby pins and was back on my way out the door.
