"Brooklyn, come on it's the party of a lifetime, it marks the end of Freshman year. We are sophomores next year. We aren't the bottom feeders anymore."

"Krissy I don't know, everytime we go to a party you ditch me for Hunter. I always end up alone and it sucks."

"I promise I won't ditch you for Hunter this time. Besides I am mad at him anyways. It will do him some good for me to ignore him."

"Why are you made a Hunter?"

"Because at lunch yesterday he was sitting with and talking to that tramp Heather."

"Why was he with Heather. She like, sleeps with any guy that looks her way!"

"I know that is what I told him. I guess they got partnered up for some project and they were just going over their notes. I told him it was completely unacceptable, he can study with me around. I am not leaving her unattended with him. So he got mad and told me I was being unreasonable and jealous."

"Well Heather gives reason to be jealous."

""Ok so will you pleeeaasee come to this party with me!"

"I guess, but I am driving that way if you do ditch me I don't have to walk."

"Done!" Krissy hands me the keys and we hop in her mom's minivan.

We get to the party and it is already buzzing with people. In the back of the house there was a bonfire. I was a bit glad I grabbed my flannel because for June there was still a nip in the air. "Hey Brookelyn what are you drinking tonight?" Neil hands me two cups, one with beer and one with soda.

"I am driving so I will take this one."

"Right on, DD super cool. Maybe I'll see you later." He gives me a wink and tosses his blonde surfer hair out of his eyes with one flick of his head."

Krissy came up behind me and leaned into my ear. "Hunter says Neil asks about you all the time."

"No way he is a senior, I doubt he even notices me."

"Well he knew your name and had a drink ready for you. Not to mention he is staring at you right now." I turn around to look at him. He is smiling in my direction again. I can't help smile back. Krissy and I start giggling.

As the night went on I had to admit I was so happy I decided to come. Krissy held up to her end of the deal at least most of the evening. She ignored Hunter until he came over and started lip singing, I Swear. She looked at me with puppy dog eyes and I waved goodbye to her. I didn't care, I had the keys with me, and as far as my dad knew I was camping in Krissy's back yard. So the night was young.

"You look loney over here." Neil came and sat down on the makeshift bench beside me.

"Yup, ditched again. Krissy just left somewhere with Hunter." I sat there for a while talking to Neil. He was nice and gave me his hoodie, my flannel wasn't cutting it.

"Watch it she's a hoodie thief." I turned around to see Trent standing behind me.

"What are you talking about?"

"I believe you still have my hoodie from the last time I saw you." I couldn't deny it, he was right I did still have it. I wasn't going to admit it but I like to curl up in it on cold nights. It still smelled like Trent.

"Oh sorry, I completely forgot, I think it's in the bottom of my closet." No way was I going to let him know that it reminded me of him. Truth was I couldn't stop thinking of him since that night. He however hasn't acted like I exist.
