So there I was... Falling through the air, admiring the Emerald Forest...

"Alright, Landing strategy... what to do...? A shadow claw? No... Oh, I know..."

As I was about to crash into the ground to my death, I noticed the clouds cast a large shadow beneath me. I used this to my advantage and made a spike from the shadow, resembling that of a water spike when a droplet hits the surface and it bounces. I fell into the spike while it was reducing its size, successfully transferring my momentum to the shadow. and landing gracefully.

Good job me. Alright, gotta get them relics. And I know a perfect way.

I whistled loudly and waited. Some seconds later I hear the leaves from the trees rustle. I extend my arm and my owl Onyx lands on it. It is completely black and its face is the typical Grimm armor that extends like horns, resembling the stereotypical angry eyebrows in owls.

"Hey there Onyx," I slightly rubbed its head with my finger. "I need your help, scout the area and search for the relics," I said and it screeched at me and proceeds to fly into the sky. In our language that means something like "understood" or something like that.

I started walking through the dim forest. I like it. lots of shadows from the trees to work with. Easier for me when in battle. Speaking of which. I heard rustling coming from the trees and readied myself. But to my surprise, what came through the trees was a Grimm, who evaporated because of the damage it took.

That's a human's work.

From the trees emerged the brown-haired girl from before. She had a broadsword and seemed to be wearing a simple grey t-shirt with some jeans. She probably came to see the damage to the now-dead Grimm.

"Hello! I'm Hana Hayashi and this is Verdant Edge!" she waved at me and motioned to her broadsword.

"Geist," I slightly nodded and removed my mask to seem friendlier.

"I just wanted to see if I killed that Grimm," she smiled widely and pointed to the newly dead Grimm's dust. "And I did."

I was right, she was checking it out.

"It seems we are partners now," I said looking at the dissipating Grimm body on the ground.

"Yup! Looking forward to working with you!" She said very energetically.

Why is everyone so energetic?

"Yeah... Do you know where we're going?"

"Nope."

I sigh.

"Alright, I've got eyes in the air, I'll keep you posted if I get anything," I examined around us for more Grimm.

Right on cue, Grimm started to flood the place. I summon my mask by instinct in response. Beowolves keep crawling and jumping out of the bushes and keep surrounding us. Hana and I faced each other's back as it is a basic move to do.

"Got any plans?" Hana asked in a severe tone.

"Yeah, give 'em hell," I said also seriously.

The Beowolves, in an instant, leaped onto us. There were at least twenty Beowolves and Ursae.

Shit.

I concentrate, making my eyes leak white light, and a shadow appears on open my hand and I summon my scythe Adtrita Corvus. Corvus for short. Sharp enough to slice bones as if they were made out of butter and as light as a feather. It was mainly black and red, completely made of shadows and dissipating into red smoke at the top and back of it.
