IT WASN'T THE WAY Zaria imagined things would play out, but she would never deny her gratitude.
The blue-haired woman was more merciful than Zaria thought, which was incredibly lucky in her case considering Jinx's reputation.
Days that were originally meant to be recovery time became weeks, and eventually, weeks became months.
Zaria became acquainted with the layout of Silco's property.
Her and Isha had a place to sleep, assured safety from the chaos going on outside.
Zaria knew to go to Silco's office for Jinx if she was present in the area but not at her hideout. She knew where to get Jinx's supplies when she was at her hideout. She knew how to get to the meeting room, where she would often visit when she was bored and wanted to hear people argue.
And yet, even with the regained security, even with a place where she could hide from everything happening around her, Zaria didn't quite feel at peace.
It was another one of those mornings. A morning where her subconscious mind was plagued by bad thoughts and horrid memories, where her body jolted awake out of fear, where she was left scrambling, touching any part of her body her hands could reach just to assure herself that she was awake.
Zaria exhaled shakily before looking over to her right, exasperated but not surprised at Isha's absence.
She then gazed down at her lap, swallowing as she placed a hand over her thigh.
Just then, a knock on the door caused Zaria to jump and glance over, watching the door open before Isha entered inside with a medium-sized bowl of porridge and a spoon inside, already fully dressed.
Then, she approached the mattress her and Zaria shared, holding the bowl out to her.
"You know you scare me when you get up without letting me know." Zaria huffed, but she accepted the meal anyway. "Thank you." She added, lifting a spoonful to her lips with an unsteady grip.
Isha's eyes darted to Zaria's hand, brows furrowing as she watched it tremble.
Zaria paused just as she was about to feed herself, chuckling silently. "Nightmares. Don't worry about it." She dismissed calmly before she finally began to eat.
Isha pouted faintly, then she climbed onto the bed and planted herself next to Zaria.
In a blink, Zaria had to small arms wrapped around her from her left side, causing Zaria to halt again.
