AMID THEIR SEARCH of Silco's old territories, the team of enforcers located a dark, rather dreary tunnel and walked through it to see if any more of his allies were in hiding.
Much to their surprise, they were met with a sight odd and unexpected.
The tunnel led to a room of pipework, almost completely devoid of anything else or anyone.
There was only one other thing and only one person.
There were propellers of some sort planted in the center, painted with blue and purple, and one of Smeech's men was tied to one of them, hanging upside down whilst the Grey filled his nostrils, causing him to sneeze repeatedly.
Majority of the team rushed over to free him while North and Caitlyn kept a cautious step.
Just as Steb went to cut the rope tying the man to the metal, several ropes came flying down and swinging around the team.
On the ends of them were small dolls dressed and designed to look like each of them.
North gasped and ran over quickly, panicked that it was a trap set to kill, something similar to one that took place on the night of Progress Day.
Much to her relief, mostly, the stunt was harmless. Just toys. But it didn't put North at complete ease.
Someone who knew of their plan had set those dolls up, tied up someone completely random for whatever reason, and left them there for the enforcers to see.
What was the point of doing such a thing? Whoever did it could've easily created something more dangerous or deadly but deliberately chose not to.
A warning? A message of some sort?
North had no clue, but the anxious wonder made her head ache terribly.
Once the enforcers got the man off the propellers, they sat him down and gave him a quick medical check.
They also lent him a gas mask to provide him with clear air and aid his sneezing. Lord knows how long he had been trapped.
Most likely for a while, given he was breathing in through the mask like every breath would be his last.
"Thanks. I thought I was a goner." He said appreciatively, then he pressed the mask over his face to inhale again.
