THE first thing North heard when she came to her senses was a series of loud thuds accompanied by furious grunts, her eyes slowly opening and darting around.

Not too far away, she saw Caitlyn repeatedly hitting the butt of her rifle against a pile of boulders in a fruitless effort to access an opening.

North pushed herself to sit up with her hands, wincing before she looked to her other side and saw a set of bars along the wall that could be climbed to escape the maze that Jinx had led them into.

Then, North looker a little lower, a faint gasp leaving her as she gazed down at Vi's unmoving form.

She grunted as she crawled out from under her large gauntlet, gently rolling Vi onto her back and holding her cheek.

Then, she reached over, feeling around her head for any potential gashes or bleeding wounds.

She found none.

North sighed in relief before leaning closer to Vi, gently shaking her.

"Vi? Hey, Vi. Can you hear me?" North murmured softly, Vi's eyes fluttering open.

They traveled all around the ceiling above as she regained her focus slowly, then they finally landed on North.

"North. Are you okay?" Vi asked immediately, propping herself up on one elbow.

"I'm fine. Are you?" North asked back.

"Yeah." Vi strained, carefully straightening her posture and sitting up.

Then, she deactivated her gauntlets, pulling her hands out of them.

North brought her attention back to Caitlyn, who was still desperately trying to break through the rocks to no avail.

North sighed, getting up from the ground and walking over to Caitlyn, Vi's eyes following her figure with a mixture of concern and caution.

"Cait." She said.

Her call fell on deaf ears.

North furrowed her brows. "Caitlyn." She said more firmly as she placed her hand on Caitlyn's shoulder, causing her to halt and lower her head against one of the rocks with closed eyes. "It's done. It's over."
