"We're being watched." Just as Bell said this, we all went on high alert.
"Guys, I'm going to cast a spell. It's gonna be bright so brace for it." I said as I held my hand up in the air. "Ball of light."
A glowing white ball of light floated up and out of my hand and lit up the whole room. The sight that we saw was something that we all weren't expecting at all. There were monsters of all types that had armor and weapons that were not made of the normal materials that any monster wields. What's even weirder is the fact that the majority of the monsters that we could see were monsters that we have encountered before.
There was one that stood out. A Lizardman that wielded two swords in their hands. It pointed one of its swords at Weine and let out a growl.
"Guys, I think that they are all after Weine." Rem said as she fired off a black bolt of electricity at a group of monsters.
And with just one roar from the Lizardman, all of the monster began to make their way to Weine.
"Heh, didn't think I had to use this now." I muttered as I gripped my hook swords. "Imbuement: Poison." Right as I said that, the blades of my hook swords began to glow a bright blue. "Just focus." I took a deep breath.
And just like that, I was gone. The only thing that you could see were flashed of blue light that darted and teleported around different parts of the cave. In just mere seconds, all of the monsters were incapacitated. Well, all except one.
"Heh, well wasn't expecting that." The Lizardman began to talk. He was just like Weine. "We sure are lucky that he protected us from getting poisoned. He did say that you were going to be a problem." He chuckled.
"What?"
A harpy landed right beside the lizardman and chuckled. "See, told you that if we wanted to test them on that, we needed to do something different. It doesn't matter anyway because I know that they are good people."
"Are you that harpy that I saw on the 19th floor."
"Yes, we did. I'm also not a harpy, I'm a siren." She replied.
"My bad guys, we were just testing you. We were curious about what kind o adventures you all were."
"Well at least you apologized." I replied.
"We wanted to see I you would stay and protect out kin when it gets rough. Heh, sorry for startling you all." He continued.
"Like I-"
"So just let me say; Thank you so much for taking care of our kin."
'He keeps cutting me off...I don't like him.'
The lizardman looked back into the darkness of the cave and said. "Light the lanterns guys!"
Just as he said that, the while came lit up and showed the sheer amount of monsters that was in this cave.
"The names, Lyd. As you can tell, I'm a Lizardman. Nice to meet you Bell."
"So how do you know his name?" I asked.
"Do you mid if I call you Bell-chi?"
'Fine then, I'm just not going to talk.' I crossed my arms and began to wander around the cave.
"Hey Acro, where are you going?" Rem asked.
"...I don't know. somewhere."
I felt a slight gust of wind brush past the side of my body. "Acro...Was it?"
"Yes."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Ray. Just don't worry about Lyd. He gets like that when he's happy."
"From the five minutes that I known him for, I already know that our personalities clash. I'm not a fan of it."
"Okay then, you have fun doing...Whatever you're doing."
After a few minutes of aimlessly wandering the cave, I began to make my way back to the main area. The closer I got to the main area, the sound of laughter became louder and louder. The more I thought about it, I realized that they are just like us.
Unlike most of the monsters that I have captured, these monsters can talk and interact with each other like they were humans in a cosplay.
Right as I got into the main area, I heard. "Alright, lets put an end to this pointless act!"
This instantly put me on guard. When I looked up I saw a group of monsters that were sitting away from the rest of the others.
The gargoyle spoke up. "They are humans that we are dealing with. They don't deserve our trust."
"Are you really still on that Glos? You already saw that they easily dealt with us without even causing anyone to get hurt. In fact, we only had to resort to that was because you didn't us." Lyd retorted. "Sorry about him, some of the guys are struggling to adjust. We were all kinda nervous when we heard that surface dwellers were coming to meet us."
Lili and Welf both slid down to were Bell and Lyd were. "Question; The guild knows that you're down here, right?" Welf asked.
"Yep, they've been pulling some strings to keep the truth about us hidden. And they would come and send in food and weapons every once in a while. Well in actual fact, its not really the guild, its really from the god Ouranos. The people who work for the guild don't know about us."
When I finally got up to where everyone was, I began to chime in. "So I take it that Ouranos sent us that mission."
"Yep."
"My, what a surprise. It seems that things have taken an unexpected turn." This voice cut right through our conversation.
Lyd looks back and says. "Fels, you came!"
