Chapter 10

The storm continued to worsen and pour down heavily on Adventure Bay. Ryder was unable to go out and search for his pups.
He could only stay at the Lookout, pacing up and down, with fear and nervousness building up in his body, which only made everything worse for him. "What happened to my pups? What happened to my pups?" Ryder repeated the same question over and over again.
"I can't locate them because they don't have their pup-tags or they might be too far to have connection....but for what reason are they too far and what happened that resulted in them losing their pup-tags. Even if they did lose them, I would still be able to track the pup-tags. That means their pup-tags have been destroyed by someone....hold on, if their pup-tags were destroyed by someone, because obviously the pups wouldn't destroy their own pup-tags, that means someone has taken my pups".

Ryder's eyes started widening with excitement but also with more fear for his pups, as he started reasoning why his pups have gone mysteriously missing.
"But who would want to take my pups? Only someone who hates the PAW Patrol and that someone is Mayor Humdinger!" Ryder said. "I'm going to Foggy Bottom right now, despite the storm".

Ryder slid down his pole and got on his ATV, then he drove out of the garage and toward Foggy Bottom. As he drove through the streets of Adventure Bay, Ryder saw no sign of life. The citizens were sheltering in their houses, while he was driving out in the cold.
The roads were slippery and muddy, making Ryder sometimes lose control of his ATV. Rain showered down upon him, while ice-cold winds blew at Ryder making him shiver.
Ryder felt lonely as he drove along the street. He felt as if he was the only one living in Adventure Bay.
The storm only made him feel more lonely, for all he could hear was rain and rain and rain.
But suddenly, faster than the blink of an eye, a shadow sped across Ryder.
It went by so fast, Ryder couldn't make out what it was. Ryder's blood went ice-cold and his face turned pale, with two wide brown eyes of horror shooting out.

Ryder halted his ATV and stared around, he could barely even move his hand. He finally found his voice to speak.
"Was I seeing something or was that real?" said he. Ryder threw aside his horror, allowing bravery to take over. "Why should I be scared of something I think I just imagined? I'm Ryder and I'm not afraid of anything.
And even if that shadow that I imagined was real and something was lurking around here, I would still keep going to Foggy Bottom because I think my pups are there....hopefully".

Ryder gathered his bravery and courage, throwing aside what he had seen which he had believed to be his imagination.
He then continued on to Foggy Bottom.

Ryder pulled over at Mayor Humdinger's lair. "Mayor Humdinger?" Ryder called. "Ryder? What are you doing here?" Mayor Humdinger asked. "I have to ask you something" Ryder said. "What do you have to ask me?" Mayor Humdinger asked.
"My pups have gone missing so I'm assuming you pup-napped them because you are totally against us PAW Patrol" Ryder said.
"I didn't take your pups. I've been in my lair as soon as the storm clouds appeared on the horizon" Mayor Humdinger said, who was sitting on his purple couch, with his kitties around him.

"Mayor Humdinger, I don't believe you. You've constructed yourself a reputation for being against the PAW Patrol, hating pups, causing childish mischief, and being a big liar! Give me my pups now!
If you give them to me now, then there won't be a fight between me and you. But if you decide to continue lying and keep my pups, then when I get them by force, there's going to be a big problem" Ryder explained angrily.

"Ryder, I know that I've lied many times and that you won't believe me right now. But I swear that I didn't pup-nap your pups" Mayor Humdinger said in a truthful voice, "I give you the permission to search the entire Foggy Bottom, from my lair to even the residents' houses".
Ryder stood silent for a moment. He could hear the truthfulness in Mayor Humdinger's voice as he spoke. Suddenly Ryder remembered of the time when he and his pups were questioning Mayor Humdinger if he had taken the crown, the throne, and the treasure of Barkingburg.
