Chapter 23

Before RazorFang could clash into Phantom, an arm came out of Phantom's back and grabbed the big black alien, squeezing his body and muscles. Ryder stood back, watching both monsters engage in a tough fight. Meanwhile in the Air Patroller, Katie had finished checking all of the animals.
"Fortunately, none of you are sick except Marshall. Your just a little sick from not being fed right. But with good food and proper care, you will recover very fast" Katie explained, petting the Dalmatian behind the ear. "We're gonna go help Ryder" Chase barked. "Okay, but please be careful" Katie warned.
"I'm coming also" Marshall said, then started running. But something grabbed his tail and stopped him from running.

"Where do you think your going?" Katie asked, with a light laugh. "I'm going to help" Marshall answered. "I think I just said that your a little sick" Katie said, "right now, you need to eat something that has lots of nutrients and then you need to rest."
Marshall sighed and watched the other pups leave the Air Patroller. "I guess your right, because I do feel weak" Marshall admitted. Katie served Marshall some liver in his pup-bowl and then set up his pup-bed for after.

Outside in the chaos, Phantom wasn't having it easy. RazorFang bit the arm that was constricting him, causing Phantom to let go.
The big black alien punched Phantom in the face, sending the navy blue alien tumbling to the dusty earth. "Ryder! We're here to help!" Ryder heard the voices of his pups. He tilted his head to see them all running to him. "How can we help?" Chase asked.
"I don't want you guys out here. An alien could just snatch one of you and then eat you" Ryder said.
"Ryder, we're the PAW Patrol and it's our job to rescue and save" Chase said.
Ryder sighed in defeat. "Okay, go to the Lookout and get your vehicles. You pups can help Lily with killing the aliens. I see she could really use the help" Ryder explained.

"Right away, Ryder sir!" Chase barked and then took off with the rest of the pups. "Go Phantom! You can do it!" Ryder cheered. Just then Ryder was shocked by a pounding punch to his head.
He landed on the rough ground and then looked up to see Dylon. "I'm not gonna let you go easily" Dylon growled.

Ryder got back on his feet and prepared for a showdown. "Let's do this" he said. He ran toward Dylon, jumped in the air and kicked the boy in the stomach. Dylon gasped and went flying to the ground. Ryder wasted no time.
He immediately ran up to Dylon who was gasping for air. "I was never the one who wanted to hurt others, even if they did so many bad things to me like Mayor Humdinger" Ryder said, standing besides Dylon was laying on the ground.
"From the mercy of my heart, I will give you two options. Say sorry for everything you've done, promise to never do something like it again, and change from evil to good. Or you can take the hard way by not accepting the option. And the hard way is facing me and perhaps even being killed by Phantom."

Dylon thought a moment and then decided. "I will never say sorry for what I've done! Because I'm gonna win this battle and become the superhero of this world!" Dylon laughed, as he stood.
"Okay, no problem" Ryder said. RazorFang yanked Phantom's arm and twisted it, until waves of pain spread throughout Phantom's body. The black alien then punched the navy blue one in the chest, sending him tumbling to the dusty ground.
"Ryder, I can't anymore!" Phantom called out. Ryder ran up to his friend and Dylon stood there, watching with an evil smirk on his face.

"My energy is gone" Phantom said in a low and weak voice. "Maybe if you eat Dylon, then you'll regain your energy" Ryder said. Phantom struggled to his feet, his body was shaking and shivering from weakness.
RazorFang stood there watching to see what the weak alien was going to do next. Phantom walked up to Dylon, who's face expression shifted to nervous and scared. He grabbed him with his big hand and brought him to his mouth.
"Nooooo!" Dylon yelled out of extreme fear. "I'm sorry Dylon, but you chose the hard way. And I already warned you that Phantom might kill you" Ryder said.

Phantom ripped Dylon's head off and ate it, then swallowed the rest of his body. Just then the pups arrived in their vehicles and started helping Lily with the other aliens. Phantom let his meal go down.
His body then started rising from weakness, as energy started filling his empty tank.
He roared out loud, the earth shook under the alien's feet. He then whipped around and ran forward to RazorFang.
While Lily kept shooting aliens, the pups drove over them with their vehicles, killing them. Skye would fly down in her copter and hit an alien in the back with full force. "Nice work, pups!" Lily said.
The pups howled together.

Phantom clamped his jaws on RazorFang's neck and began biting down, blood drizzling from the black alien's neck. RazorFang choked out blood.
An arm came out of Phantom's back and started constricting the black alien.
As its grip got tighter and tighter, RazorFang's rib cage started closing in. Phantom used every bit of his energy and strength to kill the big black monster.
RazorFang's rib-cage finally collapsed under the amount of pressure. Once the alien stopped budging, Phantom knew that he killed him.
He let go and he himself fell to the ground.

"Phantom!" Ryder ran to the alien who was laying on the ground. Lily and the pups had killed off the last few aliens and rushed over. Katie and Marshall rushed over also.
"Phantom!" Ryder cried. The alien turned to Ryder while laying on the ground weakly. His eye fought hard to stay open. "Ryder, I wish we didn't have to celebrate our victory like this. But it's time I told you that I knew I was going to die after this battle" Phantom weakly said.

"W-What? H-How? How did you know you were gonna die?" Ryder's voice started trembling as tears began to swell in his eyes.
"When I decided to use the invisible energy barrier around the Lookout, I knew that not so long after, I would die. My body is just like a honeybee. After a honeybee stings you once, it begins to die.
So after I used the powerful energy in my body to secure the Lookout and the island, I knew that I was going to die not so long after" Phantom explained.
"Can you get the energy barrier back? I don't want you to die!" Ryder panicked.

"I can't move anymore. My muscles aren't working anymore" Phantom said. "If you knew you would die, why would you use the powerful rays of energy?" Ryder asked, tears rolling from his eyes.
"I used it because I love you as a friend, Ryder. Your the greatest friend I've ever had. I've never had a friend like you and that's why I decided to use it even though I knew I would die" Phantom explained.
"Phantom, I'm sorry for everything I've called you during this short period of our friendship. I'm so sorry" Ryder cried.
"There's no need to be sorry. You've already said sorry" Phantom's voice started getting lower and lower.

"I was the worse friend to you. I've never been a friend like that to any of my other friends" Ryder teared up. "You weren't the worse friend. You were the best friend I've ever said. What you told me on the first day we met, was true.
I had alien friends on Saturn and after they died, I thought I would never be happy and never find a friend again. But I did find happiness and I found the greatest friend, which turned out to be a ten year old boy" Phantom said.
"Ryder, I love you and I want you to take care of your adorable pups. Don't let my death bring you down. Your pups need you. Do you promise to not let this drag you down?"

"Phantom, you did so much for me, but I didn't do anything in return" Ryder cried. "You did, you've been the greatest friend. Now promise me that you won't let this drag you down. That's all I wish for before I die right now" Phantom said.
"I promise" Ryder whispered, tears streaming from his eyes. "Goodbye, my friend" whispered Phantom. He stopped breathing, his heart stopped beating, his muscles stopped moving, and he closed his eyes.
"Phantom!" Ryder cried.
Suddenly the energy barrier around the Lookout became visible and the rays started heading for Phantom's body. The barrier around the island also became visible. "What's going on?" Captain Turbot asked.

The rays were so bright, Ryder and the others couldn't see Phantom's dead body. But after it all faded, Phantom's body was no longer there. Ryder was too sad to even say anything about it.
"Let's go back to the Lookout" Ryder said in a voice that was barely hearable.

I'm crying 😭 right now 💔. Phantom was such a great alien and friend. I can't believe Ryder now has to deal with the death of his best friend. I'm tearing up right now! 😭

Anyways, so this book is coming to an end. I will be writing the next chapter right now and then uploading. That'll be the last chapter of the book.
