Since I got into high school the adults in my life have asked, "How do you do it? How are you so perfect?" my classmates telling me that they could never do as much as I do, that I am an anomoly within our age group. They see a poised girl, perfect in every way, she's got the grades and the resumè to ensure her a good future. Instead of telling you that the key to success is to wake up before the sun comes up, that the key to success hinges on a set sleep schedule i'm going to tell you that the key to success is to remember what you are doing all of this for. I am not breaking myself into a shape appealing to the white eye for me to not gain anything out of it, I am showing the little black girls who were told they were too much for society that they are not too much to be successful. I am telling that young girls that were looked at like a naive child when they told someone their dreams that the only person that could stop her is herself.
