Sunsets

We take Sunsets for granted.

The best days of our lives

Eventually, come to an end,

Punctuated by pink and orange

Skies that are so beautifully brutal.

Leaving the bittersweet feeling

Of knowing that we will always remember

But never get to experience again.

The worst days of our lives

Are ended with a beauty

We can't appreciate

Just painful sighs and wishing

For a sunrise to start all over again

Sometimes we sleep through our sunsets

Too exhausted to keep going

Wishing for a rest that will make us appreciate

The sunsets that are yet to come.
