Since you have left me the world has been brighter
the sky bluer, the color of the flowers deeper.
A part of me despises the adults that told me that
the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
I was scared that if I left you,
my struggling field would turn into a desert and I would lose the last bit of life.
Grasping onto my dead roots, trying to lure the sun out on cloudy days,
seasons going by without any growth.
But leaving you felt like opening the fence gate and walking out from a struggling backyard straight into a lush forest where the roots are healthy and full of life.
A part of me hates myself for listening to people who have never stepped foot into my garden
Never seen the amount of work I put into it, never getting anything out.
Because it turns out they were all wrong.
The grass most definitely is greener on the other side.

A/N: I am taking a poetry writing class this semester so my updates will be more frequent (I need to turn in one poem a week and I'll update them all on here as well.) This one is an old one just redone and I like it a lot more!
