After All This Time

Chapter Eleven

20 Minutes later we arrive to a road surrounded by corn fields, about little less than half way through the road we pull over and come to a stop. I was in the backseat, Five in the passenger and Luther driving, with a decoy briefcase in the middle of them.

Five took off his seatbelt and looked out the window. "You know I never enjoyed it."

"What?" Number One asked.

"The killing. I mean, I was good at my work. I took pride in it... But it never gave me pleasure. I think it was all those years alone. Solitude can do funny things to the mind."

"Yeah well, you were gone for such a long time. I only spent 4 years on the moon, but that was more than enough. Its the being alone that breaks you." Luther looked at the briefcase. "You think they'll buy it?"

"Well, what I do know is that they're desperate. Its like a cop losing his gun. If the Commission finds out, they'll be in deep shit. Oh, not to mention the fact that they'll be stuck here until they get it back."

"Well I should hold onto it. Incase they make a move on you and Y/N."

"Ok Luther, but be careful. I mean, I've lived a long life, but... You're still a young man. You got your whole life ahead of you. Don't waste it."

I chuckled at his comment and then unbuckled my seat belt.

Coming from the opposite side of the road, there was a car speeding towards us.

"Here we go." Five spoke.

Luther grabbed the suitcase and we all got out of the car, as the other one stopped 100 feet behind us.

"If this all goes sideways, do me a favor and tell Delores I'm sorry."

"If this all goes sideways.' Do you know who you're with? The girl who can move things with her mind and shapeshift, nothing is gonna go wrong." I chuckled.

"True. But one of them also cut your back open."

"Yeah, you're right.."

The two people with masks exited their car and started walking towards us. Luther stayed by the car, Five and I went to speak with them.

"The masks really necessary?" Five said as we all came to a halt, about 5 feet from each other.

They both took off their masks and threw them to the side.

"So where is it, kids?" Cha Cha spoke.

"Wow, that's how you're gonna start. You know, we can get right back in our car and call it a day."

Cha Cha took out her gun and pointed it at us. "You two wont even make it halfway there."

"And neither will your bullet." I squinted my eyes and smiled.

Five spoke again. "But as I'm sure you found out in your previous foray, my sister is not your average girl."

"He's right. She moved things with her mind and turned into a giant cat." Hazel said.
