You woke up to thunder rumbling in the distance, startling you in your sleep. You opened your eyes and looked around the room, noticing it was still a little dark out already, it must've been very early, you guessed it was about 5 am.

Sighing in annoyance, you could’ve at least slept for two more hours before leaving but there was no way that you would fall back asleep. You sat up and looked down, realizing that a blanket was covering you.

Furrowing your brows in confusion, you were sure you didn't have a blanket last night.

You realized that Ellie must’ve covered you with it when you were sleeping already, ‘that’s nice of her?’ you thought to yourself.

Pushing the blanket off you, you folded it and put it down before you leaned down to put your shoes on.

You walked over to the window and pushed the curtain aside to look out, frowning at the dark clouds that covered the sky. You have only been on the road for a day and it already started storming, you didn’t want to lose any time so you hoped the storm would pass soon.

Ellie would probably sleep for at least one or two more hours before you both would leave, you pulled the curtains close again and looked around the room, not knowing what to do, you walked over to the dresser and opened the drawers to see if you could find a book to read or something but instead of books you found something better. Your eyes lit up at the sight of a few comic books lying in the drawer.

You grabbed one and went back to the couch, sitting down you opened the comic book excitedly and began reading it.

|Time Skip|

Ellie woke up to rain drumming on the window. She rolled her eyes in annoyance, she wasn't in the mood to walk through the rain but she didn't want to stay in this cabin and lose time either.

Sighing, she pushed herself up on the bed and got up, she put her shoes and her flannel on before she grabbed her backpack and left the bedroom to find you sitting on the couch, reading a comic book.

Ellie was surprised, she didn't know you liked comics but then again she didn't know anything about you except that you were a good fighter and had a mean punch.

“you read those too?” she asked, startling you as you gasped and let the comic fall on your lap as you put a hand on your chest.

“Jesus... you scared me.” you said, looking at her with wide eyes, you didn't even hear her footsteps.

“sorry.” Ellie mumbled as she put her backpack down and sat down on the chair by the table.

“it’s fine.” you said, looking at her, you noticed her hair was still open and a little disheveled from moving in her sleep. “and yeah.. I read them.” you told her.

Ellie was surprised that it was you of all people who liked savage starlight, she never met anyone who enjoyed them as much as she did.

“which one is your favorite?” she asked, looking at you in curiosity.

You were surprised that she was the one initiating conversation right now.
