Chapter 3 - Wonderwall
AUTHOR NOTE: Hello Readers! Hope you're all well. I have so much free time. I am currently in Quarantine so I am going to try to pop out as many chapters as I can while I'm stuck at home. Hope you all enjoy
This one is a long one, I debated making it 2 parts but I got lazy, lol.
[ONE WEEK LATER]
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP.
One of many moving vans backs up into Ur's driveway. About a dozen men have been coming through the door with huge boxes nearly all morning. I usually am not awake this early on a Sunday, but it was hard to sleep with the sounds of the trucks.
Ur and Silver were at Silver's house packing the rest of the boxes. I was surprised there was still more to go. I've never had this much stuff in my life.
Gray wasn't here yet, but according to Ur he would come soon to start unpacking his things. Ultear hasn't come out of her room yet.
The boxes were labeled with Gray's or Silver's name on it. I wanted to make myself helpful so I started carrying the lighter boxes to the respective bedrooms.
A lot of the boxes were way heavier than I thought they would be, but I try to be gentle with each box.
One of Gray's boxes had to have bricks in it or something. I swear there is no reason for it to be that heavy! I was on the ground, pushing with my back against the box and using my legs to push myself backwards to get towards Gray's room. I could feel my nonexistent muscles quaking. This is what I get for skipping gym class!
Not realizing where I was going, I knocked over the box and all of Gray's things spilled out in the hallway.
"GAH!" I gasped, I jumped toward the mess on the ground and started to place everything back in nearly. It turns out this was a big box of mostly books and other items.
No wonder it was so heavy, I was pushing more books than I have ever read in my entire life! Some were more pages than a dictionary!
As I throw in the text books, I notice a scrapbook at the bottom of the pile that opened up when it fell. I pick it up and see an adorable picture of a frail petite woman at the beach. She was holding up a cute little baby in the air, the picture seemed candid as her laugh looked so genuine. Her smile was so bright and lovely it was almost infectious. She looked so familiar, like I've seen her face somewhere before.
I find myself turning to the next page to see the same woman with a big round pregnant belly. The next page was a wedding photo. It was a bit beat up looking, covered in dirt and a few tears. I could tell that it was that woman yet again, I try to distinguish the groom. My face was pressing on the book to examine him up close.
"Eh-hem?" I heard it coming from behind me. I threw my arms up as a response, letting go of the scrapbook.
I look up and Gray is peering over me, "OH, HELLO" I got up and patted my knees, "I was just catching up on my umm.." I picked up the nearest book within my reach, "Magnolia's English to Spanish Dictionary!" I laugh nervously while opening a random page, "Ah yes... papel higiénico... toilet paper! Right! Just checked to make sure! Ahahaha."
Gray crossed his arms and raised his eyebrow, "Why would you need to know that?" A smirk was forming on his face, he was on to me.
I just see how long I can keep it going so, I doubled down. "For school." I cross my arms back at him.
Gray looked at me with a straight face, "You're in French." What a smart ass!
"...AND HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?" I gasped accusingly.
