Chapter 15: Date Night

Author's Note: Here is a new chapter for you all. For reference purposes, the song is L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole.

I do not own it. I barely own anything. Lol.

[Gray POV]

Daphne's limo was as obnoxious and ostentatious as she was. This whole situation felt very over done. The entire ride to her house, I kept regretting that I even asked her on this date. This was a mistake.

Every other second of my thoughts were taken up by Juvia. Juvia and Lyon. The idea of them together made my blood boil. Why would Juvia just agree to go out on a date with Lyon? Why isn't Lyon getting forced to leave Juvia alone. It's not like I'm the one who is obsessed with her!

While I was lost in my thoughts, I didn't realize we made it to what I could only assume is Daphne's house. Her house was comparable to the size of a 5 star resort. The only reason I knew it was her house and not a hotel was because it was located in the middle of nowhere. There wasn't a sign of another place for miles. I thought it was grand, this was something else. What in the actual hell?

I checked my phone and noticed that I had no signal from where I was. That made me a bit nervous. I was hoping to use my phone in case things went south.

Her limo driver parked in the front entrance. I found myself greeted by a crew of about a dozen maids and butlers in matching outfits. They were all standing in a row to escort me inside. To be honest, they all pretty much looked like they hated their lives. I do not blame them.

The entrance to the house was ridiculously extravagant. At the top of the curved marble staircase was Daphne, dressed in a silk ball gown, her hair was up and wrapped in a ribbon and she had pearls around her neck. When I came in, I expected her to say hi or something, but she didn't. She was just standing up there, posed dramatically.

Did she not know I could see her? I looked up at her, and then looked around and all of her maids and butlers were also posed.

What is going on? Did I miss something? Honestly, I didn't read the 6 page text she sent me. So it might be something I'm missing.

The lights went pitch black, my guard was up and I scanned the room to see what was going on.

All of a sudden a spotlight flashed up at the staircase, where Daphne was still frozen in a pose.

Another spotlight points at the grand piano in the front entrance, and one of her maids starts playing a jazzy tune.

Over the speaker, an old man in a butler suit announces, "Presenting her majesty, Lady Daphne."

"Huh?" I said out loud, but no one said a word to me. Everyone was frozen in a neutral expression.

As if on cue, Daphne starts gliding her way down the staircase. Only one step at a time. As she's making her way down, she is bobbing her head and rolling her body. She was making really strong eye contact with me the entirety of the time.

I grimaced, and left utterly speechless. Not in a good way either. No words. My body was freezing up over how uncomfortably awkward this was. Fight or flight wasn't even in my train of thought, I was like a deer caught in a headlight.

Speaking of headlight as Daphne was dancing and pointing at me, a third spotlight was put on me. It nearly blinded me and took me by surprise. As if I wasn't enough of a spectacle!

When she eventually inched her way to the first floor with all of us, her staff ran up and stood in formation behind us. They all broke into a choreographed dance.
