Chapter 5 - Suck A Toe

Sorry, I have been so distracted for the last few days. I keep writing a few paragraphs at a time then I get distracted. My bad! Usually I write these while I am at school and I am not sure why it is easier to write there. I think I have been stuck in Quarantine for so long that I am getting writer's block.

We spent all of Sunday together. It sounds romantic but, honestly it really was not as picturesque as it sounded. I did not want to disappoint Gray, so I tried my absolute best.

Which was still pretty bad honesty. I am pretty fortunate that Gray was really patient. It is not that I am dumb by any means, I just cannot seem to retain anything anyone says whenever it is education related.

Gray was writing a math equation on a dry erase board, "So, therefore A Squared plus B Squared equals to C Squared."

A square is a bee cold to the sea scared, I think he said. I just kept nodding but, I absolutely had no idea what he was saying. I was too scared to tell him I did not know what he was saying because this was the 3rd time he has explained it and I am embarrassed.

We are so dead.

Shoot I think he was saying something else.

"Sorry, could you repeat that?" I interrupted.

He sighed, "Uh sure, how much of that did you not get?"

All of it technically.

"Just that last part, heh." I lied.

He erased what he had written down and started over, "So, Sine Cosine and Tangent are the three functions of Trigonometry. Each has different ways of solving the functions. Sine is Opposite over Hypotenuse, Cosine is Adjacent over Hypotenuse and Tangent is Opposite over Adjacent."

I swear everything he just said went into my ear and out my other one. I have no idea what this means. We are so screwed.

I raised my hand, "Um... Why do they all sound the same? How am I supposed to remember this all?"

"Hmmm, try this." He wrote down some acronyms that were barely words, "SOH CAH TOA."

My mind was having an aneurysm, "Suck a toe?"

"SOH CAH TOA," He repeated, "SOH is Sin = Opp / Hyp, CAH is Cos = Adj / Hyp, and TOA is Tan = Opp / Adj. SOH CAH TOA."

It felt like a lightbulb flickered above me, I think I got it! "OH!" I nodded, "This is the first time you have made sense today."

He looked worried, "The first time? What about the last 3 hours of studying?"

Ope. I shared too much, "Uhhh...." I got nothing.

He facepalmed his forehead, "Oh, god."

Today is the day! We spent just about the entire day, afternoon and night studying. I felt pretty fried, but honestly I think that Gray and I have a handle on it because whatever I don't know he should know.

We both walked into the auditorium where Mr. Marakov, Miss Strauss and Mr. Dreyer were standing at the podium.

Everyone was seated with their partners. I glanced at Ultear and Daphne, her expression just read that she wanted to kill her partner. We made eye contact, she mouthed, 'help me.'
