Chapter 4 - Let the Games Begin
Author's Note: I am on a roll and feeling super productive. I am trying to see how much I can get done while I'm home alone. I think I can do 2 chapters today.

The next few days were a blur. It is so easy to get caught in the cycle of mundane life when your life is in a rut.
Wake up, school, go home, eat, sleep, repeat. School is it's own cycle as well. Once you get used to the bell schedule, it feels like a mini rut inside the regular sized rut. Nothing new really ever happens at school, except for today of course.
Mr. Makarov got hit with a violation by the district because of test scores in certain classes being rather low. And by certain class, I do mean My Class. The Morale was really low, so in order to 'get us on track' the district is trying to set up the classes that are struggling with classes that are excelling.
While I know my class needs help being better students, I think the brainy class could use some help in having fun.
Of course my class was paired up with Class A, Gray's class. Some would call it fate, but really it was because Mr. Dreyar and Miss. Strauss had something going on. I'm sure like Gray and I, their souls cannot be away too long.
In class today, Class B and Class A were paired up to compete in physical and educational games to boost morale.
Ultear even came to school on time because she didn't want to miss it, that's how you know this was a big deal. She was a sucker for competition.
Sure, my class didn't stand a chance against Class A academically but, we did succeed in places where Class A couldn't— Sports, Arts and Music. Maybe not Lyon for the music but, we had a lot of rare talents in my class.
It was a perfect day for field games outside. The sun was shining bright with just enough clouds out to shade us when needed. Everyone was wearing their gym uniform with their class color on a penny tee jersey. Class A was white, My class was wearing red. I found it silly that they chose to wear white to play sports.
The competition challenges were announced, the physical sports were going to be on Day 1: Tug of War, Swimming, Dodgeball and The Big Relay Race. Each game was worth a point. Day 2: the big Academic Decathlon, which was the sudden death match.
Class with the most points avoids a punishment game. Mr. Makarov hardly ever gave prizes to the winners but always had a punishment game for the losers. Truthfully I think he just finds the games amusing and uses us for his entertainment. I think if I'm busting my butt, I should be rewarded.
My class has been itching to beat Class A in anything, mostly just to take them off of their pretentious pedestal.
Ultear was stretching while Meredy and I were sitting on the bench, "We might not do too well in the Academic Decathlon, but we sure as hell can beat these Grade A nerds!"
Ultear was incredibly competitive. Most of our class were warming up by stretching or jogging to get their heart rates up.
Other than Gray, I wasn't really familiar with anyone else from Class A. Not a lot of them were really preparing for the match. The whole class was sitting on the benches; reading and doing homework. Seems like they didn't care much about the games.
"How incredibly arrogant of them!" Lyon pointed at Class A, "They aren't even trying! You're all going to finally learn what it means to fail!" He laughed evilly. Lyon was completely fired up for this game, when it comes to sports he actually excels.
