Chapter 18 - Rebound

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Wow, I cannot believe I'm already this far in this story already! If stated otherwise, it's Juvia's POV. Enjoy!

The chapter after this may be a bit longer in length and take me longer to type or I might just cut it into 2 parts to save you guys the anticipation.

After a couple weeks of not seeing Meredy, we finally were able to hang out at The Library. It was the perfect excuse to catch up while we studied.

Meredy told me about all the colleges she went to, but overall she really only liked Fioré University. It was the closest one in relation to where we all lived. A lot of the people who went to our high school usually end up going there. Meredy was just waiting for her acceptance letter. There was no doubt that she would get one.

You would think because Meredy was in Class B, she would struggle to get into schools. However, unlike the rest of our class and everyone who came before us in Class B, Meredy has always been a genius. The last 3 years of being a Class B student didn't matter in comparison to skipping a few grades and being in accelerated classes prior. Not to mention Meredy scored nearly a perfect score on her ACT tests. The people at Fioré U will understand that Meredy has great potential.

The university had a wide array of options to explore different careers. Meredy was keen on computer coding to make video games in the future. She would be amazing at it, because Meredy is the kind of person who would excel at that sort of thing.

We had the stacks of textbooks at our sides while we scanned through each one. Meredy was a machine and went through each book without any effort.

Her drive that she thought she once lost, has refueled. Meredy's genius was never really lost, it was mostly just motivation. My best guess was the excitement of Graduation and college brought it back. On the other hand, I was struggling to get through one stupid book, though I didn't want to hold her back. So I didn't tell her I was struggling.

My only shot at this point was to score really well with my ACT retake test to combat my really poor Grade Point Average. It wasn't bad, but it sure as heck was not good either. A C+ Grade Point Average is kinda laughable, and in no way going to get me into a University any time soon. Especially since I barely scored into the double digits in certain subjects.

But, realistically if I can't even read through one measly textbook, then I stood no shot. Deep down I knew that if I didn't do something to at least try, I don't know how I'm going to be able to live on my own. There's no way I can just keep living at Gray and Ultear's house. Especially since neither of them are on good terms with me. It would be ridiculous for me to squat at their house any longer.

Meredy's phone vibrated in her pocket, she pulled it out and read the message on her screen with great intensity. A wild smile formed on her face as she read, she was overjoyed. She cupped her hand over her mouth to mask her muffled shouts of happiness.

I looked at her with some confusion as she didn't explain why she was screaming into her hands at the library.

She whispered to me from across the library desk, "I got in! I'm in!" She fist pumped her arms in the air.

There wasn't really a doubt in my mind she wouldn't, but I was still really happy for her. I ran up and gave her a big hug, "Congrats!" I exclaimed a bit too loudly. We both just progressively got louder as we both jumped in circles.

From across the Library, Gajeel was sitting by himself. Also studying hard, but for his GED tests. He glanced up at Meredy and I jumped up and down. He waved his fists at us like an angry old man, "Hey quiet down! This is a library, you're going to get Levy in trouble!"
