dogs and birds

men are dogs.
they've always been compared to them;
the way they undress women with their eyes,
savage,
snarling,
salivating.
dogs who beg for a mere taste. a look.
dogs who will drop the meat
for a whiff of a bone.

women are birds.
anything that flies
delicate, soft
the sound of a humming bird
a dragon fly zipping
the dandelion seeds, gracefully sailing with the wind

men are dogs. who bark at birds.
rest their paws against the birds home
shaking the tree, their only safety, hoping
to kill
to own
to control

women are birds.
nesting among trees with their young
the power to fly away, soar through the skies,
they could save themselves, but their babies cannot fly
mother bird
mother bird
oh mother bird

where will baby bird go?
to escape the ravages
to escape the jaws
to escape imminent death—shaken from their home
baby bird cannot fly.
baby bird
baby bird
baby bird!!

dead by dog.
mother bird weeps. she stayed
but still couldn't save baby bird

men are dogs
murderous
malicious
methodical
