Year 5: The Inquisitorial Squad

I was heading towards a mandatory meeting for prefects.
I turned a corner and saw Mr. Filch asleep in front of a wall. He had a half eaten sandwich and a bottle of soda on a little table next to him.
I stopped and called out, "Mr. Filch." He woke up in a fright. "What are you doing?" I ask as he slumps down in his chair. "Watching this wall for Dolores. She suspects there's a secret organization behind there." He says in his raspy voice. I look over at the wall and there was nothing special about it. He must be going mad. I nod at him to show that I believed him, when really I didn't. I continued heading to the meeting that I was already late to.

.      After the Meeting      .

Since I was late to the meeting I had to take an empty spot next to a hufflepuff.
The head boy ordered the prefects to patrol the corridors so we did what we were told.

"Hey." I called to Draco as we were leaving the room. "Hey, love." He says.
We were heading up the stairs.
"I heard something interesting as I was heading to the meeting." I said. He nods to show he was listening. "I walked passed Mr. Filch, right? And he was watching a wall because he claims theres a room in the wall, where a secret organization is being held." I explained.

"Did he tell you what kind of organization?" he asked. "No, but aren't student organizations against Umbridge's decrees?" I ask.
Draco nods.
"If it's Potters I'll be more than happy to help." I say.
"L/N! Malfoy! Quit yapping and get to your corridors!"
The Head Boy shouted behind us.
Draco rolled his eyes as I chuckled.
"I'll see you after. Bye, darling." Draco says as he kisses me on the cheek and walked to his corridor.

.       After a couple of days        .

Draco and the rest of us were walking towards the Great Hall when we saw Mr. Filch putting up another decree. We stop and look up. More and more slytherins came to see what was happening.

"What do you think it is?" I ask Draco but Umbridge on the PA answered it for me.

"Those wishing to join the Inquisitorial Squad for extra credit may sign up at the High Inquisitor's Office."

"We should go join!" I told the boys.
"I don't see why not." Draco agreed.
We head to Umbridge's office.
"What's she gonna make us do?" Crabbe asked. "Who cares? I NEED the extra credit. I'm failing Divination." Goyle says. I interlock my hand with Draco's.
"I just want to stay on Umbridge's good side." Draco says.
"Smart. I want my parents to know that I'm actually joining 'school clubs'. They've been bothering me about that for some time now." I tell them.

We walk into Umbridge's office.

"Yes?" She asked as she put down her tea cup. Nobody said anything for a few seconds so I decided to speak for them. "We want to join the Inquisitorial Squad."
"Very well." She says with a smile.

"By joining the Inquisitorial Squad, you will have the authority to dock points away from students who are not obeying the Educational Decrees. Addition to that, YOU must follow the Educational Decrees yourselves. Do you understand?" She asked in her firm voice.
We nod to answer her question.
Draco and I let our hands go as that was breaking the PDA rule.
We gestured us to write our names on parchment paper.
My hand tingled of the memory that happened here.
I wrote my name down and stepped to the side.
"Form a line, when you are finished." She demanded as more slytherins came in, including Mr. Filch.
She put a purple badge on our robes and welcomed us into the Inquisitorial Squad.

"Now. I have been told by Mr. Filch that there is a secret student organization happening in this school. You need to find it and stop it. Anyway, you can. You can go." Umbridge finishes as she sits back down at desk.
We leave her office and head to the common room.

"I can't wait to take points away. Especially from the Gryffindors." Goyle said as he proudly looked at his badge.
"At least we're on her good side." Draco commented.

.      Some time later     .

"Hey! Come here!" Mr. Filch called out to us.
We walk up to him. "Look there goes that crazy ravenclaw." He whispers as we peek around the corner.

It was Loony Lovegood. She was skipping and entered into a door.
Mr. Filch started to walk towards it and the boys followed.
I sort of just stayed back and watched.
That's when I realize the door was slowly shrinking.
Then I realized what it was.
Mr. Filch wasn't going mad.
The boys began to run but the door was way faster and they crashed into a broom cupboard. I ran up to them as I tried to hold my laugh before helping Draco up.
"It's not funny." Draco glared at me but I continued to chuckle.
We help the rest of them up.

"What is that?" Goyle asks as he wipes the dust off his robe.
"It's the room of requirement. Also known as the come and go room. It only shows itself when a person has real need of it. It equips itself for whatever the seeker's needs are." I explain.
It goes silent.
"I swear you guys don't read." I sigh referring that I read it in a book somewhere.

"So you just have to have a need for the room to open?" Draco asks. "Show me the room you just had!" Mr. Filch shouted at the broom cupboard.
"Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. The room can somehow sense when a person actually NEEDS it." I explain.

"Well, they probably won't be meeting again until after the holidays. Til then, we'll try again." Mr. Filch roughly said as he walked away. "We're heading to the courtyard. We'll see you guys later." Goyle said as Crabbe and him leave.

Draco and I headed to the common room.
We entered and I laid down on the couch.
Draco quickly jumped on top of me.
I laugh as I begin to play with his blonde hair.

"Are you staying for the holidays?" Draco asks me. "No, I'm going home." I say sort of sadly.
"You don't sound excited." He observes.
I softly chuckle before I say, "I don't know. When I'm at home, my father bores me with stories about the Dark Lord and his work at the Ministry."
Draco chuckles.

"How's your mum, is she getting better?" He asks. "She's getting better. She's no longer bedridden so that's good." I told him. My mum got badly sick just a day before I had to leave for Hogwarts. She was bedridden and sadly nothing could heal her.

"How's your family?" I ask him. "Dunno, I haven't talked to them since I left for Hogwarts. But since I'm going back for the holidays, I should know soon." He says.
He grabs a blanket and puts it over us.
He lays his head on my chest as I continue to stroke my hand through his hair.
"I hope I get to see you before Christmas." I told him.
"I have your present already." Draco softly spoke.
"Me too. You're gonna love it." I say sort of drowsy.

A couple of moments later, I hear soft snores coming from Draco.
He fell asleep.

I felt my eyes heavy.
I gave in to the temptation and fell asleep.
