Year 1: New Friends

Slytherin!"

Once I heard those words I jump off of the chair and walk towards the cheering table.
I sat down next to Draco.

I shook some of the older slytherins hands as they welcomed me into Slytherin.

I was proud but because the sorting hat mentioned my brother, I couldn't stop thinking about it. It's happened twice already.

My brother, Astrid, was a truly magnificent wizard. Top in all his classes and what most say, the most handsome teenage boy of the age.

Everyone fell head over heels for him.

Though after a while, he got tired of the fame and the wealth because he felt publicly controlled. He can only wear this or that, do that or this.

So he began failing all his classes and didn't want to socialize with anyone. Except his muggle friend. 

Still, I did get really close to him.
He would rant on to me about his problems and what girls would do to get his attention.

He would fight with my parents about being too involved in the muggle world, to obey and not ruin the reputation of our family.
I would overhear them a lot.

After the fights, he would let me know that everything was okay, even if I was only 9.

He had enough of it one day when a fight broke out at my cousins party. The same cousin that didn't like my brother. For what? Who knows?
Word has it, Astrid tried kissing my cousin's girlfriend. Rubbish I say.

Astrid could get any one he wants, he wouldn't kiss that girl.

But Astrid got punched in the face as Astrid tried to explain to my cousin.

They began to brawl and my father had to stop them.

If my father didn't pull them off each other, they surely would have killed one another.

Astrid stormed out of the party and went home while the reporters were flashing their cameras at him.

When we got home, he had already left.

We soon found out that he planned to live a muggle life whilst living with that muggle friend.
No magic, no wealth, no fame.

He didn't even say good bye.

We found out through friends of friends. Ever since then, we lost contact with him.

This fight happened almost two years ago.
It is still clear in my head.

"What's wrong?" Draco asked all of a sudden.

I was taken out of my trance and I looked at him.

"Oh, nothing." I say forcing a smile.

I look away and turned my attention to the headmaster, Prof. Dumbledore.

He spoke about the new year and how excited he was.

In the end he yells, "Let the feast begin!"
With a quick of a snap, handfuls of food appeared in front of me.

I talked with Draco while enjoying my first meal at Hogwarts.
After, we had a prefect show us to our common room which was down in the dungeons.
He showed us to our dormitories.
My stuff was already brought to my room and so were everyone elses.
