Year 6: The Vanishing Cabinet

"Why do you have an apple with you?" I ask Draco who had a green apple in his hand.

"I get hungry." He assured me.
I jokily roll my eyes as we arrive at a large curtain that was covering the hole that Umbridge made last year.

We walk inside and start looking for the Vanishing Cabinet.

The Room of Requirement was filled with a bunch of junk as we walked deeper and deeper inside.

I heard some creaking that was coming from Draco's side.

"I found it." Draco whispers calling me over.
I go up to him and saw a large object covered by a piece of fabric.

Draco tosses me the green apple,

and pulls off the fabric.

There it was.
The Vanishing Cabinet.
The key point of this task.

It was getting loud outside of the Room of Requirement so we decided to come back later to start fixing it.

Some time later...
Draco was in detention with Prof. McGonagall because he wasn't doing his homework.

So I decided to go to Hogsmeade to check on Madam Rosmerta.

As I entered the Three Broomsticks, Madam Rosmerta was making drinks at the counter.
As she noticed me, she seemed terrified.

I walk up to her and she gestured me to follow her.
Because the adults were drinking and the kids were doing couple stuff, I was able to sneak away with Madam Rosmerta.

Once we made our way to the back, she stopped and faced me.

"Next step. Get this necklace to Dumbledore." I whisper roughly.

"I need a backup plan. In case this one fails." I begin to think.

"I have some information." Madam Rosmerta seemed to hesitate.

"Well, spit it out." I demanded.
"Christmas is approaching and Slughorn always buys Dumbledore's favorite bottle as a gift."

I think to myself.

"Perfect. Poison one of the bottle of mead and make sure to give that bottle to Slughorn." I advised her.
She nods.
"In the meantime, get that necklace to Dumbledore! Whatever it takes." I whisper yell.

I walk out into the loud, crowded area. As I passed the stairs, I caught Potter looking at me.
I looked away and left as soon as possible.

I made my way back to the castle through the snow.
I walk through the huge doors as I hear Hagrid's voice from behind me.

"Make way!" He called and I walked off to the side.

He was carrying someone, the person seemed injured.
Out of curiosity, I follow Hagrid who went up to the Hospital Wing.

I hide behind the door and eavesdropped.

"Name's Katie Bell. Poor thing was cursed." Hagrid explained to Madam Pomfrey.

My eyes grew big.
Cursed? By what? By who?
Could she have gotten a hold of the necklace?
I heard Hagrid's footsteps coming closer so I moved closer to the door so I wouldn't be seen.

I need to go and ask Madam Rosmerta.
But if I do go, I'll make myself look suspicious.
I wait til tomorrow, but for now I need to tell Draco.

Once the coast was clear, I made my way to the Slytherin Common Room.

As I walked in, I started looking for him. He wasn't there.
Then I remembered.
The Astronomy Tower.

I headed up and sure enough he was there.

"Hey, love." I said joining him.
It was dark and the snow had slowed.
"Hey." He replied.
"Did you hear the news?" I asked him.
The wind howled through his hair.

"Yeah. Word gets around quick. That Bell girl was cursed. Was it because of the necklace?" He says with a rough tone.
"I don't know. I was going to go ask Rosmerta but I didn't want to make myself suspicious." I explained.

He nods and it went quiet.

"If we did fail, I have another plan." I broke the silence
Draco turns to me.

"Since Rosmerta is under the imperius curse, she told me that Slughorn always buys Dumbledore his favorite bottle of mead as a gift for christmas. I told her to poison the bottle and give it to Slughorn, who will give it to Dumbledore."

Draco nods and takes out an ivory letter from his pocket.
"Also, I've gotten a letter from my parents. They want us to come home for Christmas." Draco advises.

"Do they really want us to come home or is it just to check in on what's going on here?" I jokingly ask trying to lighten up the mood.

"Probably the second option." Draco says as he softly chuckles.

"I'm gonna go now. Don't be too long." I say as I give him a peck on the lips.

"I'll try." He says before I leave the astronomy tower.
