Zane broke out into a run. He was going in.
Ollie called after him. "Zane! Be smart about this!"
Zane was no longer thinking. He was only doing. He couldn't let his friends and family just die in there. Even if he died trying, it was still better than doing nothing.
The heat overwhelmed him and the smoke made his eyes water. Zane desperately wished for a useful Flaw, like Felix's, or Connors. Something that could help him.
"Zane!" his mother said. "What are you doing in here?"
Zane inhaled, having had the breath knocked out of him by Ellies embrace. "Mom! Where's everyone else?"
"Felix should be right-" Ellie looked over her shoulder, looking for the girl.
"She was right behind me! FELIX!"
Zane grabbed his mother by the waist and turned her towards the exit. "Go! I'll get everyone else!"
"Don't be the hero, Zane!" Ellie called after him, but he was already gone.
