When she opened the door, I was blown away. She was in this super cute but sexy black dress. It flared out a bit which I knew would make her look stunning if either us could manage to actually end up dancing. Her hair fell loosely around her shoulders. Make up clean and simple. Maggie always caked on her makeup; so much so to the point you hardly recognized her when she wasn't wearing any.
'Stop it, Niall! Stop comparing her to Maggie!' I screamed at myself.
"Hey," she said, a bit shyly.
"Hey," I returned, just as shy. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you. You look very handsome. I love the all black look." She pulled on her dress a bit, "Obviously."
She smiled at me. Her smile lit up her face. Smiling back at her, I gently took her hand and pulled her a bit closer to me, giving her a soft kiss on the cheek.
"Ready?" I whispered.
"Yes."
The drive to the club was filled with mostly chit chat; asking her about her day, her classes, work. She did the same with me.
When we pulled into the parking lot, she looked out the window. "The Granada?" She turned to look at me. "You're taking me dancing? I thought you said you have two left feet?"
"I do. But, I still thought it would be fun. Even if I, or both of us, suck. It would be great if we were both terrible at this, by the way."
She giggled a little. "Ah, gotcha. Hint taken. Wink. Wink."
She looked back out the window but I saw a smile appear on her face as I pulled into a spot and parked the car.
"Do not get out," I warned, as I got out on my side and made my way to hers, opening the door for her. Giving her my hand, she took it and stepped out of the car.
"Are you sure about this? I mean, to be fair, I'm not exactly much of a dancer. It's fun but this place is full of people who actually know what they're doing. We're going to look like idiots."
I wrapped my arm around her shoulder, bringing her closer to me so I could say into her ear, "Then we look like idiots."
I could feel her body stiffen and noticed that goosebumps had begun to form along her neck and arm. I smiled a bit as we took our spot in line. While standing there, we didn't say much but I could see her looking around her a mixture of awe and nerves which seemed to be the cocktail of the hour because I was beginning to wonder if I had made the right choice in bringing us here. She took a step forward as the line moved up. In an effort to relax and get out of my head, I stepped up behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist, kissing her neck. The flesh of her skin prickled up further. I smiled again.
Once we got to the door, I told the person our names and that we should be on the list for the last class of the night. She found us, highlighted our names and told us where to go.
"We're taking a class?" Ophelia asked, turning to look at me, her hand finding mine as we walked into a very crowded club.
"Yep." I smiled at her. "I thought it would be fun. Something different. It's for beginners, so hopefully we won't be the only lousy ones here. And, even if we are, we're still going to have a great time. I can feel it."
"You and those feelings, again. Got any other feelings about tonight?" She raised her eyes to mine, a hint of flirty was dancing around in them.
Had we not been in public, I probably could've managed to finally get out of my head long enough to enjoy being in just her presence without the ghost of another haunting me. Looking at her, I prayed I had that same feeling later.
