LOVE WAS A RARE WORD. Or feeling.

For Mark Sloan in particular.

When he was younger the only love he had received was from Derek's mother and Derek himself as a family. The first woman who he loved was Addison and she didn't held the same feelings for him.

So when the young brunet shared the same feelings it surprised him.

It surprised her as well. Elizabeth was used to share her feelings.

Joy, grief and many others, with her friends and the family which was left. But never love.

It took almost four years, after Annabeth Bourne adopted her as her own, to make the girl to say 'I love you' to her new family. It took four another to say that to Jackson but he never heard those words. And four more to say it to Alex.

It wasn't until this very day that she realized how easy this words can leave her lips and how big responsibility it is.

Mark was brushing his fingertips over her face when he brushed some hair from her face. Love written deep in his eyes.

The story of Lexie Grey and James Bourne was different.

James has taken care of many things in his life. His career, his mother after his father died, his sisters who were the dearest to him. But he never cared about any single of these people or things that how he cared for the young intern.

And so did she.

Yes, James remembered the pain in his twin's eyes when she woke up in the hospital. The hurt when Annabeth pushed a plate of food in front of her and she refused it, saying she doesn't deserve to be fed. The joy in her eyes when she saw her little sister after so many years.

James was there, all the time, when everyone needed him, and when he needed them, they were there as well. But this time, it was different care he held for Lexie.

It turned his world a little.

"HI." Lexie stepped closer to him by the nurse station, nervously glancing around and biting on to her bottom lip.
