Lendzie's mom's POV-

I got married yesterday! I didn't bring the kids to the wedding because Jeff and I agreed that they'd ruin it.

Today, I'm taking the papers up to the school- the papers that change Lendzie's last name. McKinnon sounds better than Collahan anyway.

After that, Jeff and I are going on our honeymoon. Screw the kids.

Lendzie's POV-

We made it to school five minutes before the first bell. Everyone was standing around out front. Neil lead us over to a tree, Kevin met us there.

"Hey guys," Kevin sighed, leaning against the tree.

"Hey," Jeremy nodded, sitting down. Neil sat down and leaned on Jeremy. "Dude stop," Jeremy groaned.

"What are you gonna do about it? Pee on me?" Neil laughed. Jeremy blushed. Kevin raised an eyebrow.

Josh walked up and stole Kevin's hat. Kevin looked at him oddly. "I like this hat," Josh nodded, sitting down. Kevin tried to take it back, but Josh rolled out of the way.

Kevin jumped on him. "This is why people think you're gay!" Alex said, leaning against the tree. Kevin looked up at Alex.

"Get off of me!" Josh yelled, pushing Kevin. Kevin jumped up and Josh stood up, brushing himself off.

"You have dirt on your butt," Kevin said. Josh attempted to brush it off. Kevin shook his head and Josh tried again. "You keep missing it." Kevin said, reaching out and brushing Josh's butt off.

"Erm.." Josh said, looking at Kevin. The bell rang.

"Saved by the bell," Jeremy smirked, pushing Neil off of his shoulder. Neil jumped up and offered me a hand.

I took it and stood up. Neil pulled my hand to his chest. "Can I keep this?"

"No, I need that," I said, laughing slightly. Neil let go of my hand, which was now sweaty.

"Why is your hand so sweaty?" he asked, wiping his hand on my shirt.

"Because, we live in Florida, and I sweat a lot."

-

Jeremy and I were dismissed from our last day of detention. We made our way to gym as the tardy bell rang.

The screaming and yelling of teenagers got louder as we approached the gym. Jeremy made his way up the bleachers, to the top row. He walked by a couple of groups of kids, who either had disgusted faces at the sight of him, or frightened faces.

I followed him over. We met Josh, Kevin, and Alex. I noticed Neil was here too. "I didn't think you had this class," I said, sitting next to him on the second bleacher, turned around facing the first one. Jeremy sat in front of me.

"I got my schedule changed. I had library and my dad called and got it changed for me," he nodded.

"I'd rather be in library," Jeremy said.

"Jerry, get your dick out of your sisters face," Josh said, moving Jeremy's legs.

"Ah, she was enjoying the view," Jeremy shrugged. I blinked at him, he smiled.

A whistle blew loudly. Everyone looked to the front of the bleachers where our coach, Coach
Fletcher, stood. "Go line up," he said. Everyone jumped up and ran down the stairs.

Jeremy grabbed my arm and yanked me down the bleachers. We walked up to Coach Fletcher. "Hi, we weren't-" Jeremy began.

"Last name?" he asked.

"McKinnon," he said.

"Jeremy and Lendzie? he asked.

"Yeah, how did you know her..?" Jeremy asked.

"Same last name. Twins, siblings?" he asked, leading us down the rows of kids sitting on the gym floor.

"No, um, step-siblings," Jeremy said. "Her last name isn't McKinnon."

"Yes, it is," Coach Fletcher said, looking down at his clipboard.

"No, it's Collahan," Jeremy said, looking over his shoulder. Coach Fletcher pointed at my name. I looked over. McKinnon, Lendzie E.

Hmm. Well that's interesting.

Coach Fletcher lead us to the M's and told us to sit, with me to Jeremy's right.

To my right was some kid I didn't know. He looked at me, smiling slightly. He looked over at Jeremy and his face twisted up.

"He's your brother?" I nodded slightly. "I feel sorry for you," he said, grabbing my arm. I pulled my arm away. "Hey," he began, grabbing my arm again. "I was just-"

"Don't lay a fucking finger on her!" Jeremy said loudly, swatting him away. I started sweating. I hate it when people I don't know touch me. It freaks me out.

"Make me," he said, grabbing my arm and pulling me into his chest. Jeremy got up and kicked the kid in the side.

"Don't touch my sister, dirtwad!" Jeremy yelled.

The kid fell over, clutching his side. I got up and ran into Jeremy's arms. He held me into his chest.

I heard a couple of 'aww's. Then someone shouted, "That's Jeremy!" The 'aw's stopped.

"What?" someone gasped. Jeremy turned his head. "Oh my god."

Someone walked up behind me. "You okay?" It was Neil.

"Yeah," I nodded, backing out of Jeremy's arms. Neil wrapped me in a hug.

"If anyone ever does that again, freaks you out, you can come to me if I'm closer," he whispered in my ear. I nodded. "Now they know you don't like to be touched, they'll use it against you. Trust me." He walked away.

"Sit!" Coach Fletcher yelled. Jeremy, Neil, and I scrambled for our places on the floor. He helped the kid out of the floor and sent Jeremy to the office.

The kid pointed at me and said something to the coach. "Lendzie, office, now," Coach Fletcher said.

I sighed and stood up, walking out. I ran and caught up with Jeremy.

He smirked slightly. "I can already see how much trouble were gonna get in this year."

"Yeah, I know," I said. We walked in the office.

"Coach Fletcher sent us," he said. The lady at the desk pointed us to Mr. Hale's office.
"I kicked a kid in the side," he said. She pointed to Mr. Stripling's office.

Jeremy smirked and walked to his office. I followed.
