*Killian's POV*
"Hook?" David got my attention on the sidewalk as I left the liquor store. "Hey, I haven't seen you out in weeks, what's going on?"
"As has been pointed out to me many times, drinking is what I've always done best," I told him, focusing to keep my words from slurring. "And since I drank everything we had in our home, and my ship for that matter, I had to come buy more."
"Wait," he stopped me from walking away. "We both know that hasn't been 'what you do best' for a while now, so what happened?"
"I took your wife's advice and as you can tell, it went swimmingly, so if you'll excuse me," I tried again to leave, getting agitated when he stepped further in my way. "Dave, I like you, I do, but I will hurt you if I have to."
"Stop trying to walk away and I'll stop getting in your way," he answered with irritation. "You know I'm just trying to help, so why don't you just let me?"
"You can't, that's the point," I snapped. "We've all tried everything! I tried the most powerful thing in every world, and even that didn't work! So will you please get out of my way, so I can go spend the rest of my life drinking alone?!"
"Killian!" He tried again, following me down the sidewalk towards my house. "I know this is hard, she's my daughter, but no one is giving up."
"Don't you get it?!" I rounded on him again. "Yes, she's your daughter, but she's my everything. And in case you've forgotten, she's pregnant with my daughter. I've tried everything, and I have completely run out of hope, so I'm going home to drink- please just... leave me alone."
*Emma's POV*
"Will you tell me more about you and daddy?" Allie asked me as we walked through the thick forrest. "Have you always been in love?"
"Not exactly," I laughed lightly, holding some leaves back so she could walk through them. "I'll admit, I was interested in him a lot sooner than anyone knows, but we definitely didn't get along for a while."
"But you're always so happy when you're with him," she replied, and I had to remind myself that she was literally still inside me- she could feel what I felt when I felt it. "You get all fluttery inside."
"Yeah, I do," I nodded while my face flushed bright red- 'fluttery' made me sound like a lovesick moron, but there was no denying how he made me feel. We'd made it to the beach, a bright wave of magic making me gasp the moment we sat down. "Woah, what the hell was that?"
"Momma," Allie got my attention while I tried to get my bearings back. "I think it's time."
"Time for what?" I asked, looking down at her. She looked disappointed, suddenly making me realize what she meant. "Oh... you mean..."
"Daddy needs you," she told me sadly, seeming as disappointed as I was that we'd run out of time. "He's lost hope without you, and we both know that that's never a good thing."
"Especially with him," I agreed with a sigh. "But if I go... are you going to be alright on your own?"
"I won't be alone," she assured me, leaning into me when I wrapped my arm around her to hold her close. "I know you'll keep me safe, and we'll meet again soon, I promise."
*
I came back to consciousness slowly, finding myself in my own bed in the middle of the night. The moonlight coming through our window was enough to see Killian sleeping next to me, his arms around his pillow, and a pained expression on his face. I knew I should let him sleep, but I was just so damn happy to see him, I couldn't help it.
