Hey, lovelies! I'm trying to get back into things with a significantly different life than I had last time I managed to write anything so not much actually goes down in this chapter, just kind of a bridge into the direction I want to take this.
For context- I went back a few chapters, so Emma hasn't had the baby yet. She's still around 3 months pregnant and they just had Killian's birthday party about a week ago.
Thanks for reading! I hope to get you more in the next couple of days. Later, loves!
*Emma's POV*
"Please, Swan," Killian pleaded again, having been doing this since we left the house. "Please just go home where we know you're safe. The Evil queen could show up any time and do God knows what to you to get our child."
"I understand that," I answered, trying to keep my annoyance out of my voice, but not successfully. "But like it or not, I'm the savior, not to mention the sheriff, and this town is my responsibility. I can't sit in that house by myself and just abandon everyone like that anymore."
"But Emma," he tried again, going to take my hand but I pulled away. "Love, I know you're going stir crazy, I do. You're a free spirit, sitting in the same place all the time would do that to me as well. But with the baby reacting every time you use your magic, you don't have the protection you need to just be out in the chaos that this town is prone to."
"I'm just going to have to figure something out," I concluded and he went quiet walking next to me. I sighed and came to an abrupt stop, taking both his hands in mine. "Look, I'm sorry I've been snapping at you, I'm just so frustrated with this situation. I mean, all I wanted to do was go to the grocery store for a couple things but every time I set foot outside it becomes a whole ordeal."
"I just want you to be safe," Killian answered softly, moving his hands to my hips to pull me against him. "It took me so long to find you, and we've been through so much, worked so hard to get to this life together, I don't want to lose it over something as trivial as a few groceries."
"I didn't think about it like that," I said with a guilty sigh, sliding my hands up his chest and around his neck. "I'll go back home, but you can't keep me out of everything anymore. Not having my magic there when something big goes down puts you in more danger, too."
"What about the baby?" He asked, having lost only some of the tension in his body. "You said she kicks like crazy when you use your magic."
"She does," I nodded, worrying my bottom lip between my teeth. I really didn't know what to do about that either. "We don't know that it's actually causing any problems, though. How about I talk to Regina and maybe Zelena about it and go from there?"
"Aye, that's a start I suppose," he sighed, resting his forehead on mine. "I'm sorry, Swan, I know this is difficult for you and my being so overprotective has only made it worse. I'll try to calm down, I promise."
I just shook my head slightly, leaning up to press my lips against his. I'd meant it to be only a moment, but he pulled me closer, letting one hand tangle in my hair as our kiss grew deeper. I let out a soft sigh, tightening my arms around him so I was completely pressed against him. No matter how much time passed or how much we argued some days, these slow gentle kisses always made my stomach flutter, making me feel like such an idiot for pushing him away for so long.
"I love you," I whispered against his lips, refusing to pull away any further. "Let's just go home, okay? I'll call Regina this afternoon."
"Thank you," Killian answered, so quiet I could barely hear him. We pulled away, but not much, keeping our arms around each other as we walked back to our house.

"Hey," I snagged Regina when she came to pick up Henry. "Can I talk to you quick?"
"Sure," She agreed, looking confused. She came further in the house, closing the door behind her. "What's going on?"
"I need to figure out a way to use my magic without having the baby going crazy," I sighed. "I can't just sit here, I have a job to do."
"I don't see the problem," She answered, now seeming even more confused. "Just because the baby reacts doesn't mean that it's doing anything to it."
"It doesn't?"
"Of course not," She said with a sympathetic smile. "Zelena used magic while she was pregnant, nothing went wrong. Well, until her pregnancy got sped up."
"Then why does she react like that?" I asked, so frustrated that I couldn't stand it anymore. "She kicks so much it hurts sometimes."
"Well," She sighed, thinking for a few moments. "Maybe she'll have magic, too. Your magic comes from your parents' true love, hers would too. Maybe it's just mixing with hers."
"I... didn't even think about her having magic," I admitted distractedly. "So you think it'll be okay for me to start using mine again?"
"Definitely," She said simply. "Honestly it'd be nice to have you out there again when the inevitable drama goes on. I know you're worried about the Evil Queen wanting the baby, but you're plenty powerful enough to keep her at bay."
"Okay," I nodded, letting out a breath I hadn't even known I'd been holding. "Thank you. I've been going nuts here."
She just gave me a smile, heading out with Henry. I locked the door, shutting off the lights as I headed upstairs to the bedroom where Killian was reading on the bed.
"Hello, love," he smiled at me when I came in. "The lad off with Regina already?"
"Yeah," I sighed, stealing one of his tshirts for pajamas though I definitely wasn't going to be able to sleep and climbing up on the bed to join him. "I think she's taking him for the week this time instead of the weekend."
"You alright?" He asked gently, concern written all over his face. "You seem upset. What did Regina say?"
"I'm fine, I just..." I trailed off, shaking my head. "She said the baby might have magic like mine and that's why she reacts when I use it."
"Okay," he prompted me when I didn't continue. "Swan, talk to me. What part of that bothers you?"
"I guess I just hoped she wouldn't have that burden," I admitted, looking down at my hands on my small bump. "It can be so exhausting having magic in this town. There's always something, and with magic you're always involved. I didn't want that for her."
"Emma," Killian sighed, reaching over to pull me against him and wrap his arms around me. I felt tears gathering in my eyes, closing them and leaning my head on his chest. "Your magic is a gift, one that makes you so special. I know it doesn't always feel that way, but it's part of who you are and I happen to be a fan of every single part of you."
I let out a breath of a laugh, slipping my arms under his to wrap them around his torso. I looked up to find that small smirk I knew would be there, giving him a bit of a smile in return.
"Thank you," I said with a soft kiss to his lips. "The fact that my magic has never seemed to bother you really helps me not hate it all the time. Especially in times like this."
He brought my lips back to his, our kiss quickly becoming heated. He yanked me over to his lap, my legs locking around his waist and my arms tightening around his neck. Killian was a marvel in himself, able to go from comforting me to making me burn for him in moments.
Without Henry here I didn't even hesitate, whipping my borrowed shirt over my head before grabbing him back to me. My nails started to dig into his back, pulling a groan from his throat and his hold on my backside to become bruising. He trailed his mouth down to my neck, leaving me gasping with my hands fisted in his hair.
*Killian's POV*
Emma was finally sleeping, passed out and content on my chest. I understood why she had been upset earlier, my own worries consuming me now that I'd had time to really think about it. Emma's magic had never bothered me, it made her who she was, but given the option I wasn't sure I'd want our child to have it. She was right when she said it tended to come with a complicated life and a great deal of danger.
I was up the entire night, watching the sunrise with a mind full of anxiety, but my Swan in my arms.
