*Emma's POV*
"So what did your parents have to do, anyway?" Killian asked me from his seat behind me as we sat across the sofa, his arms around me and his thumb running over my stomach lightly. "They left in quite the hurry."
"No idea," I lied smoothly, keeping my eyes trained on the baby lounging on my chest as I toyed with his bit of light hair and he stared up at me. "But I probably should have asked if you were okay with babysitting, sorry."
"I don't mind," he answered simply, moving my hair to one side to rest his chin on my shoulder. "You and the lad clearly needed some time together, and like you said, it's good practice for us. Our girl will be here before we know it."
"I want to name her," I said quietly, unsure if he heard me over Henry's game. "She needs a name."
"Aye, I agreed," he said with a kiss to my jaw and my lips tugged into a small smile. "What would you like to name her, love?"
"I don't know, really," I sighed, feeling tears in my eyes for no apparent reason. "I've never really had to think about baby names until now, I just... I don't like the thought that she doesn't have a name. She could get taken from us at any moment and she doesn't even have a name."
"No one is taking her from us," he said sternly, holding me a bit tighter. "I may not be the best man, but I refuse to let anyone hurt those I care for, and that means this family. You, Henry, and our little girl are my only priority."
"I still want her to have a name," I sniffled, the baby on my chest and Henry on the floor playing his game being the only things keeping me from breaking down again for no reason. "Something meaningful, but pretty, you know?"
"What about... Allison?" he suggested, sounding a bit shy so I looked over my shoulder at him. "It, eh, it was my mother's name. If you don't like it, we don't have to-"
"I love it," I interrupted him. "It's beautiful. Now she just needs a middle name."
"What about Mira?" Henry said as he paused his game, turning toward us. "It means ocean."
"Allison Mira," I said mostly to myself and felt her move in response. "Where did you come up with that?"
"Just, uhm, a book from school," he lied, fidgeting with his controller. "I heard it and thought it kind of fit for you guys."
"It's perfect," I half smiled, feeling her move again. "And she likes it. Allison Mira Jones it is."
"We can call her Allie," Henry grinned, quickly grabbing his phone when it went off and making Killian chuckle. "What? Why do you always laugh when I check my phone?"
"Leave him alone," I giggled at them, my mood switching again in an instant. Normally I'd just let them go through their banter, but I knew it was a message from my parents. I felt infinitely better now that our daughter had a name, like a horrible weight had been lifted off my chest and I could breathe. "Just let him be a teenager."
"You think the house is clear yet?" He asked me, the look in his eyes telling me they were ready. "Violet wants to hang out, but I want to change first."
"Sure, kid," I said, sitting up with a sigh. "We'll just take this little guy with us, I'm sure they won't mind. We have enough of his junk at the house anyway."
I let Killian drive since we didn't have a car seat for Neal, holding him close for the short drive to the house. It looked quiet but Henry and I knew the truth, glancing at each other the entire walk up to the door. I risked the magic to change myself into a dress when Killian wasn't looking, wanting to make this perfect.
"Surprise!" everyone yelled when he flicked the light on and he nearly jumped out of his skin.
"Swan, what," he looked over at me as I handed my brother to my mom. "What is this?"
"You said you'd never had a birthday party and today's your birthday," I answered simply, going to wrap my arms around his waist and kissing his cheek as his settled around me as well. "So happy birthday, Killian."
"Well thank you," he chuckled with the most adorable smile, looking up at the crowd. "Everyone, really, thank you."
"Come on," I smiled, taking his hand and tugging him with the flow of people to the backyard where everything was set up for the party. Everyone dispersed, leaving us to each other as my anxiety started to gnaw at me. "Do you like it?"
"It's... wonderful, Swan," he said in disbelief, looking from the party to me. "What inspired you to do all this?"
"I... I didn't used to celebrate my birthday either," I admitted shyly. "I used to spend them working or just sitting home alone, but when I came here... This past year, when you and my parents spent the whole day with me and we got to really act like a family, well I'll hold onto that feeling for the rest of my life. I just... wanted you to feel like that, too."
"You... you astound me, Emma Swan," he sighed, tugging me closer and meeting my lips for a gentle kiss. I couldn't help but smile, holding onto his shirt as we shared a series of sweet kisses before he rested his forehead on mine. "I love you so much. I can promise you there will be a more thorough thanking later this evening."
I simply giggled at him, spending the rest of the afternoon doing everything I could to make it perfect. One the party dwindled to just our family we headed inside where it was warmer and he grabbed me before I could get busy again. We'd gotten more seating so he pulled me into his lap on the recliner, putting his feet up to essentially trap me there with him. I happily cuddled into his embrace, letting my furnace of a fiance warm my chilled skin as he held me.
It was nice to talk like a normal family, to pretend for a while that that's what we were. But like many of our happy gatherings, it was interrupted by the town in crisis.
