Chapter 34

* Killian's POV *

"Hang on," Emma said as she got up to answer the phone. "Regina, what's wrong? Slow down."

A moment later I heard a thud, looking over to see her passed out on the floor.

"Emma!" I cried, rushing to her side and gently pulling her into my arms. "Bloody hell, Swan, wake up. Come on, love, just open your eyes for me."

"We need to get her help," Snow White said, that motherly tone in her tone amped up when talking about her daughter. "We should call Regina, see if she can help before we take her away from the protection spell here."

"That's who she was talking to," I shook my head, refusing to break down and just getting angry instead as I held Emma protectively. "She was listening and then she just collapsed."

"Well are we sure it was Regina?" the prince asked and I glared at him. "Because there is someone who sounds just like her and has it out for you guys."

"Bloody hell," I sighed at myself in frustration. "Fine, call Regina, but she's not coming in this house until I'm sure it's actually her."

I picked Emma up carefully, laying her on the sofa and sitting on the edge next to her. They all got busy with one thing or another but I stayed with her, holding one of her hands and brushing my thumb along her cheek. A while later I heard the door, only looking up when someone touched my shoulder and I flinched.

"You have to move," David said gently but I didn't budge. "I know you don't want to, but Regina needs to look at her."

"I won't leave her side," I insisted, only moving over to rest her head in my lap as Regina came over. She gave me a slightly annoyed look, rolling her eyes when I only glared at her. "She better be okay, or there will be hell to pay."

"Calm down, pirate," she sighed, waving a glowing hand over the length of Emma's body a few times. "She'll be fine, just give her some time to wake up."

"What the bloody hell happened to her?" I snapped, unable to help it as I stroked Emma's hair gently. "All she did was answer the damned phone."

"She must have said a spell through the phone," Regina sighed, shaking her head a bit. "but it seems she was only making her power known, she could have done a lot worse."

"Well that's comforting," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm as I moved one of my hands to her bump where the baby was kicking furiously. "As if she hasn't been through enough lately."

"Speaking of," her mother prompted, sitting across from me. "What... exactly happened in that other reality?"

"Well I woke up on my ship," I sighed and looked down at Emma's peaceful face, the feeling of her hair like silk through my fingers keeping me calm. "I recognized your kingdom so I went to find Emma, but she had no idea who I was. She agreed to talk to me, and I... guess she could just feel it. I had the pictures you'd taken for some reason and she remembered them, even if she didn't know why. The next day she woke up with a headache and then it was all just there."

"So how did you get back?" Regina asked and I looked up. "We all know how hard getting out of another reality is, I'm just curious."

"We ran after the prince decided I was to be executed and went to see the crocodile," I told them though I wasn't interested in talking about this, feeling the baby calm at my voice. "We were almost caught but made it back to my ship, and I made her rest. Next thing I knew she was waking me up in our bed upstairs and everything was the same."

"We'll figure it out," Snow assured me in a gentle tone, picking up on my anxiety despite my eyes on my hand where it rested on Emma's bump with my thumb running over it lovingly. "We always do. And nothing will happen to either of them."

Emma started to stir and we all fell silent, all eyes going to her. She turned her face towards me, letting out a content sigh when I continued my fingers through her hair. Her eyes slowly cracked open and I sagged with relief, that tiny crease forming when her eyebrows pulled together.

"Killian?" She mumbled groggily, trying to sit up when she saw the worry on my face.

"Woah, love, slow down," I stopped her, making her lie back down and stroking her cheek with my thumb. "You're alright, everything's fine, just relax."

"What happened?" She asked, her hands instinctively joining mine on her belly. "I was just talking to Regina..."

"It's was the Evil Queen," I sighed, still frustrated with myself for letting this happen to her. "So no more answering the phone for you, Swan."

"But no one got hurt?" She continued to question me, always more worried about everyone else than herself. "In town and everything? Everyone's alright?"

"As far as I know," I nodded once. "Your family is all here as well, so you just relax and rest."

"Oh," she looked over at everyone, her cheeks going pink. "Uhm, hey guys."

"How are you feeling?" Her mother asked, always anxious to help. "Did you want anything to eat? Some tea or cocoa maybe?"

"Cocoa sounds good," Emma allowed, letting me help her as she sat up and curled into my side with my arm around her and her legs up under her. "Did I miss anything else?"

"You dropping to the floor out of nowhere is still about all that's going on," Regina sighed, concern hiding just below her annoyance. "But you should be fine as long as you don't push it."

"I'm fine," she insisted, taking my free hand in both of hers and toying with my fingers the way she did when she was anxious. I pressed a kiss to her hair and she curled into me more, relaxing as I squeezed her closer. "As long as everything else is okay, so am I."

David's phone rang and yelling filled the room the moment he answered. It seemed the giant bull we'd sequestered had gotten free. Emma tried to argue that she could go but I saw the look in her eyes change when the baby kicked, giving me a soft kiss before we left her with all the children. We'd only just found it when  it sent it's back hoof back into my chest, throwing me down the block to the cement before everything went dark.

It's a tad short, but it's been forever so... Later, loves!
