* Emma's POV *

"Thank you, by the way," I said to Regina as we cleaned up from our lesson. "I know I'm not the easiest person to teach, especially right now. And if it's any consolation, I have no idea how you're able to get up in the morning."

"Well you've been me before," she sighed, always trying not to seem weak. "You lost Graham and Neal, then Hook for a while. You got up."

"Graham and Neal were different," I shook my head. "I barely knew Graham, and Neal... I'd lost him way before he died. My heart wasn't with him anymore, but Killian... you saw me. At first I just sat in our house trying to find a way to get him back, and when we couldn't all I could do was try to let him move on... if I was you, I'd still be a in a ball in my house or on the Jolly Rodger."

"Well," she shrugged. "There's not a single thing I can do besides try to help raise his daughter and try to do right by my family."

"You know, at one point the only couple in the messed up family that was still together was my parents?" I almost laughed. "That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard."

"You and me both," she smiled a bit and my phone rang. "Let me guess, it's one of the Charmings now."

"It's just Killian," I laughed lightly and answered the phone. "Hello?"

"Swan, good, you answered. I hate that message service," he rambled, making me smile. "Now I have no idea what a toaster actually is, but Henry says we need a new one."

"We need a new toaster?" I repeated, doing my best not to laugh. "Killian, did you break our toaster?"

"It wasn't my fault, I swear!" He quickly defended himself and I had to fight my urge to giggle. "The lad was showing me how to make, what's it called again? A bagel, but when I went to take it out that thing burned my fingers."

"So naturally..." I rolled my eyes and he continued.

"I tried my hook," he confirmed. "But then the bloody thing sparked and caught fire... now it's in the sink."

"Of course it did," I sighed, still smiling to myself. "Alright, I'll pick up a new one on the way home. Just don't touch any more appliances until I get there, okay?"

"Aye, love, good idea," he agreed seriously. "Henry also requested more, what are they? Oh, microwave popcorn and pop tarts."

"I'll get them," I assured him. "We're almost done so I'll be there in a bit."

"I look forward to that," he answered and I could practically see his smirk through the phone. "See you soon, Swan."

"Bye, idiot," I smiled and hung up, looking up and finding Regina staring at me with a small smile. "What?"

"If you smile any more you're going to hurt yourself," she laughed lightly. "You look like a lovesick teenager."

"Shut up," I giggled a little, blushing bright red. "Are we done? I have to go buy another toaster for my boyfriend to set on fire."

"Have fun with that," she scoffed, shaking her head. "I'll see you tomorrow."

I nodded and left, going to the store to pick up what they'd asked for. I pulled up to the house and sighed, smiling a bit when I saw the charred toaster on the porch. I heard my boys inside arguing over something about me, my smile widening as I unlocked the door and it went silent.

"Swan?" Killian called, a wide smile coming to his face as he came out of the kitchen. "There you are, I was starting to worry."

"Mhmm," I said skeptically and he followed me to the kitchen, watching me put things away. "Now no using the toaster without my supervision, okay?"
