2016, New York.
Okay, so Clover had managed to arrive home in New York and not get locked up and cooked in a cell in the middle of the ocean for the rest of their lives. But unfortunately, they didn't completely get away with their actions.
Because of their choice to join Steve Rogers, they now found themselves trapped in their apartment on house arrest for the next two years. On one hand, they got to spend a bit more time with their younger brothers and their aunt. On the other hand, now they weren't going to be able to help Bradley coach the kids at the ice rink. This, of course, really disappointed them, as they loved ice skating and were really attached to the young 10-11 years olds that they and Bradley coached.
As soon as the house arrest device was strictly strapped to their right ankle, the FBI agents left the apartment, informing the Pine family that Clover would be free from house arrest in two years. Once they were definitely gone, Clover's aunt, Olivia Pine, turned to them, with a look of disappointment, confusion and anger written on her face. Clover knew exactly where this was going.
"Clover, what the hell were you thinking?!" She asked them. "When you told me you weren't going to be home for dinner, I thought you were just heading to Bradley's house. Not going out and breaking the law!"
"Aunt Olivia, in my defence, I didn't know I was heading halfway across the world when I was told that Captain America wanted my help." Clover argued. "Besides. Two years of house arrest is better than getting cooked to death in a cell in the middle of the ocean."
"What are you going to do about Bradley? And those kids? You can't just tell them you went halfway across to Germany to fight people with your ice powers!" Olivia said.
Clover pulled out their phone.
"That's exactly what I'm gonna do." They muttered. "I mean, he deserves to know the truth. The kids deserve to know the truth."
Olivia shook her head in disbelief.
"Well, while you do that, I'm gonna head out to get some groceries." She said, walking out the door. "Your brothers should be home in about 10 minutes."
"Yeah yeah, alright." Clover muttered, returning to their room.
They looked at their phone hesitantly, before starting a video call with Bradley.
"Come on, man. Pick up, dammit."
"Hey, Clover, what's going on?" Bradley asked on the other end.
"Hey... Brad... listen, I won't be able to come coach the kids for a while..." Clover said.
"Why? What's going on?" Bradley questioned.
"Well..." Clover muttered. "Long story short, I may have gotten into something I probably shouldn't have been doing and... I'm kind of... sort of..."
Clover turned their phone, showing their friend the black device strapped to their left ankle.
"...on house arrest."
Bradley was quiet on the other end as he processed what Clover had just told him, and shown him for that matter.
"Clover, what the hell did you do?!" He asked.
"Okay, if I tell you, I only want you telling the kids at their next session. No one else." Clover sighed.
Clover then told him the truth. About their ice powers, about HYDRA, about the fight in Berlin. Bradley just listened to everything.
"Are you sure you want me to tell the kids this?" He asked once Clover finished their story.
"They deserve to know." Clover sighed again.
"I know, but I think it'll also ruin the magic of how you pull literal snowballs out of their pockets." Bradley added.
"Not necessarily. If anything, it might make me even more magical that I already am to them." Clover chuckled. "Tell the kids at their next session. Let them know I'll miss skating with them, but that I'll be back."
Bradley sighed.
"Alright. You and I are gonna chat about this later, got it?"
"You sound like my aunt." Clover said.
Clover's friend rolled his eyes.
"And you can't just use your ice powers to... I don't know... freeze the device and remove it that way?" He asked.
"And risk getting thrown back into that prison in the middle of the ocean, to get cooked to death? No thanks. I'd rather not take that risk." Clover refused.
They knew what they did was wrong. They should have never joined Captain America, but by the time they had arrived in Germany, it had already been too late to turn back, so they didn't have much of a choice.
"Clover, I get that, but how the hell do you expect me to be able to coach 10 kids on my own?!" Bradley asked.
It was Clover's turn to be quiet.
"I'll figure something out, Brad. I promise you." They said.
"Alright... alright." Bradley muttered. "Talk to you later, I guess."
Bradley then hung up, and Clover let their arm fall onto the bed.
"Brad, I swear, please don't fire me for this..." They mumbled.
They then heard the door open and shut, and assumed their brothers were home. Their younger brothers, Isaac and Oliver came into Clover's room, and immediately looked at the house arrest device strapped to their older sibling's ankle.
"Woah! So Aunt Olivia wasn't lying!" Isaac remarked.
"Did you really meet Captain America?!" Oliver excitedly asked.
"Does this mean you'll get to spend more time at home?"
"What's Tony Stark like?"
"Did you really get locked up in the middle of the ocean?!"
"Boys, boys. Please. Not right now. I'm tired." Clover sighed, ending Oliver and Isaac's bombardment of questions and turning around so their back was facing the younger twins.
"Sorry, Clover." Isaac apologized.
The boys then sat on Clover's bed, keeping the 20-year-old company, while they began questioning every life decision that led them to this moment.
"Real talk though, Clover..." Oliver spoke. "Are you gonna be alright?"
"Yeah. I'll be fine. We'll be fine, Ollie." Clover muttered. "I just wish I came home instead of going with them to Germany."
Oliver and Isaac nodded.
"Well, if you aren't confined to your bedroom, wanna play video games with us? We have a spare controller." Isaac offered.
"Yeah. Maybe it'll take your mind off things." Oliver added.
Clover smiled at their brothers and sat up.
"Sure. Might as well." They agreed.
"Yes!" The boys cheered as they farted out of their sibling's room and into their own.
Clover, Oliver and Isaac played video games pretty much for the rest of the day, but Clover knew for a fact that this was going to be a rough two years...
A/N: We got a snow day today so I may or may not get another chapter though. I can't make any promises.
