2024, Louisiana.
The following morning, Bucky woke up, having been sleeping on the couch, to whooshing and grunting noises being mimicked by AJ and Cass. Maria, who was asleep close by, had also woken up from the noise, and the two turned around and caught AJ and Cass playing around, pretending to fight each other while Cass held the shield.
"Hey." Bucky spoke up.
The boys immediately turned around, and quickly put the shield away where they had found it, acting as if they hadn't done anything. Bucky smiled at the scene, and it entertained Maria a tad bit as well. They both stared at the shield sticking out of the bag, and Bucky decided to get up and head out to the dock. When he approached the boat, he found Sam working his butt off trying to fix the engine. He went down to help him, holding one of the parts in place while Sam went in with the wrench. When he was done, Bucky took the stopped to put it away.
"Thanks." Sam spoke up.
"Yep." Bucky mumbled.
"Hey. Start loosening those bolts." Sam instructed him.
"Got it." Bucky replied as he did so.
During the early hours of the morning, Sam and Bucky took out parts of the water pump to examine them. It was a tough process, but they were getting them eventually. Later in the morning, about 11 am or so, while everyone in the neighbourhood was making their way to the dock, Sam and Bucky sat down examining the parts.
"There should be a three-sixteenths bolt that goes in the big gear..." Sam muttered.
"Nope." Bucky said.
"Uh-huh. No. No."
"You didn't even look." Sam argued.
"I don't have to." Bucky stated.
The two men looked up at Sarah, who was approaching them, not looking very pleased with the many water pump parts scattered around.
"Hi Sarah." Bucky said.
"I told you specifically that the water pump was not the problem, and yet, here you are." Sarah stated.
"Yep, Samuel." Bucky muttered, glancing at Sam.
"In our defence, we were supposed to be done long before you woke up." Sam told Sarah.
"I don't come up to the sky to tell you how to barrel roll, so don't come down here and start messing around with things you don't clearly understand." Sarah argued back.
"Wow. Wow." Sam muttered.
"Bye. Off. Thank you, gentlemen. Appreciate you. I love you, bro."
Sam sighed and rolled his eyes as he got up to walk away. Bucky followed behind him, smiling and nodding at Sarah.
"She's a very mean person." Sam said.
"It's tough love." Bucky stated, patting Sam on the back.
"No. If you did what I told you to do, we would have been done before any of this took place." Sam argued.
"There's no such thing."
"There's a prowess that goes into my madness."
As the two men made their way back to the house, they happened to see Maria sitting on the front porch with the shield resting against the wall next to her.
"There you are!" Bucky remarked. "Where's Clover?"
"Still inside examining the crate." Maria stated, looking up at Bucky. "They've been really curious. That or they still don't wanna talk to me."
